  • Um...yes.

Let's see -- I just watched a video where popcorn was popped by several cell phone signals.

I do believe what I can see with my own eyes. Call me crazy.

  • It's true! There were similar experiments done and the same thing happened. Here is one such video.

  • It makes sense, with people getting brain cancer from it. It's probably like opening the door of a mini microwave and putting it to your head when it's on.

Speaking of which, Chant... do you know of any idea how a person can get "normal phones" (eg, the ones with the curly cords), when there are no phone outlets in the room itself? Someone we know and love is still spending an hour or two average on her cordless every time family members call... yourself included.

I cannot believe that whoever built this house did NOT put a phone jack anywhere in the living room. That is just insane. Where the heck ELSE would you have a telephone?!! But not to worry, we've got a cable tv hookup in the kitchen!!

  • I use a cordless too -- but they don't have to transmit as far as a cell phone, so they're not AS dangerous.

Wireless internet and cordless phones emit a certain amount of "radio frequency" radiation, which has been known to interfere with biological processes. But that is nothing compared to what cell phones do to you.

A cell phone has to transmit THOUSANDS OF METERS to the nearest cell tower -- the signal coming out of the phone has to be very powerful.

  • These videos where part of a marketing campaign for Cardo Systems, makers of Bluetooth headsets.

Get real people, it take almost 2 minutes to Pop Corn in a microwave but a few seconds with ringing cellphones ? Sometimes my headspins at how ripe you are to see your prejudices confirmed.

Just curious... how long did it take you to find that?

  • Well, those cell phones get pretty hot after only a few minutes' use -- and they do have to transmit pretty far.

It wasn't just a cell phone, but I thought perhaps they aligned a couple of them just right, so that a couple signals would intersect and cause a "hot spot" -- something I've seen before in other contexts.

At any rate, it didn't seem like a hollywood production, so I didn't think there was any "special effects" -- it looked pretty amateur to me.

And so what you're trying to say is that whoever came up with that marketing idea should get a promotion.

Not that cnn is so great, but...

Still, cell phones can't be a good thing.
