Healthcare and insurance was affordable.  Catholics sisters and Catholic doctors used to work hospitals. 
Nowadays doctors are greedy performing surgeries that aren’t needed and prescribing medicine to make profits while patients die from being over medicated.  And yes, those with zero insurance die.   Hospitals and insurance companies are corrupt and in it for profit.

Awhile ago, I did some research on Catholic hospitals and what changed in American healthcare is the Rockefellers. The Rockellers helped pass  legislation that was meant to eliminate Catholic influence in American hospitals. Basically, the Rockefeller Foundation won against the Catholic Hospital Association. To be honest,  it probably wasn't too difficult for the Rockfellers to convince a bunch of Protestant politicians to pass legislation that targeted a Catholic institution.
