I, for one, am NOT looking forward to this movie.
Whatever shortfalls "The Passion of the Christ" had (Mel Gibson had to hold back somewhat to appease the Jєωs) at least Mel has the Faith. He's a bad Catholic, but a Catholic nonetheless. He may have a scandalous personal life (drunkenness, divorce/remarriage, etc.) but at least he knows the real Jesus. He knows the connection between the Last Supper and the Crucifixion (this is one of the shining points in his movie, BTW). He knows the truth, even if he personally falls short in following it.
The best scenario is personal meditation on Our Lord, His life, and the Passion. You can't replace meditation/prayer with watching a movie. Personal meditation is always the most powerful and beneficial to one's soul. In meditation, you switch between thinking about something and actual mental prayer.
But if you're going to watch a movie about Our Lord, it's best if it's designed by a traditional (also known as a "real" as opposed to "fake") Catholic. For many purposes, Novus Ordo doesn't count as Catholic. I've said many times how they have the name, we should give them the benefit of the doubt, etc. but that doesn't change the fact that many of them DO NOT have the same Faith as us. Some of them have indeed completely lost it, and many have lost most of it.
Just looking at the actor they've chosen to play Our Blessed Lord, I'm inclined to never see this movie even if it were free. Not even out of curiosity. I just know it's going to be awful.
Remember, you can't un-see something. Don't pollute your mind.
