  • That this Fr. Ripperger chose that picture of an improperly dressed girl tells me all I need to know. I didn't even bother listening to the video.

Apparently someone does not like the OP, since they gave her postings a thumbs down without saying anything. It wasn't me.

  • In many ways it would be better for Traditionalist Catholics to adopt the more formal approach to ‘courting’ supported by other conservative Christians and reject the informal and often sinful idea of ‘dating’.

    .
    Absolutely.
    .
One caveat...  delete "In many ways".
    .
We don't use the word "dating" in our home.

  • Father didn't choose the video.  Someone else made it.

You have to go to his sight for authentic material.  I apologize for posting the original video without checking properly.

  • Society has long stopped using the word "dating" because nowadays young people are permiscuous including young people who were born and raised Traditional Catholics.  I see rebellion.

Also there are young people who pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend because the boy likes boys.

  • Yes.   I was shocked that traditional Catholic youth were doing it too.   The first time I saw it was ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ boy and girl pretending to be girl friend and boy friend.  Then a couple of years ago I saw it again boy and girl pretending to be couple in front of  their family. They attended public school.   Then I was shocked to see it done by young people at a chapel Because they were home schooled.

But how would you know they were ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ?( especially in the case of the chapel)

  • Like I said, I didn't even bother to watch the video.

From myself, a man who previously had lived in the world in a big sin city, came back to the Faith late in life, married, and now a Father of many girls:

The steps of courtship for marriage:

    1) Make friends with the father, real friendship, not a deceitful friendship to gain his daughter. Help him at work or around the house. If you are not a Catholic, you will realize from him that you have to do the same with God, "Make friends with the God, real friendship, not a deceitful friendship to gain this daughter", by becoming a real Catholic.

When you have done that, without losing it with the daughter and making a fool of yourself, then maybe, you'll stand a chance of being invited over for dinner or a day in the park to be with the family.

It's a long way before you'll be able to show your interest. Catholic marriage is forever, it will be a difficult road if you are both fertile and have many children. Courtship is a long process to weed out those that are not worthy.

I wouldn't advise being a submissive bitch to any girl's dad in order in to win his favor. That's essentially what you're doing by "befriending" him in advance to get to his daughter. It's a surreptitious act, not matter how much you rationalize it.  You're emasculating yourself to get brownie points, no matter how well and smooth you conduct yourself, or how much you've convinced yourself that you're some pious man extending a helping hand to her dad. You're not being honest with yourself or him. I'd rather my daughter be with a man who is real but rough around the edges, rather than some smooth, sneaky, punk ass phony trying to weasel his way into my family.

Even a good, holy Catholic girl wants to be conquered by a good, strong, holy Catholic man, regardless if her dad approves of you or not. It's not his decision.

What I wrote is very clear "Make friends with the father, real friendship, not a deceitful friendship to gain his daughter."   Any father that wants his daughter to marry a weak submissive  man is not well upstairs and it likely reflects in the daughter. A real man can't make himself appear weak and submissive for more than a few days of observation before he breaks a bat over the head of the father. This advise is coming from a real man who admires the same traits in other men. If the father is a typical father of today, you can just ask the girl out for a date and you are both on your own.

It is his decision if the Father is "a good, strong, holy Catholic man". It is his job to protect his daughter. If the person does not go about the courtship  with respect, he will not even get to first base.
