I have gotten Thomas Casey to reverse an infraction. He tried to give me one for referring to protestants as material heretics, I told HIm it was a theologically accurate term, read the baltimore Catechism. He retracted it, but asked me to refrain from "name calling."
I laughed.
That, dear sir, is AWESOME.
This reminds me of a story.
When I was a young lady in high school, I had a Northern Irish priest teaching me "New Testament Scripture." Every Wednesday, I would go over to the "indult" parish I used to go to before I found the "nuts on the hill" (ironically, their church is on a steeper hill than ours is
... anyway...), and we were taught the Baltimore Catechism. There was one thing that really stuck out one class I went to, and I brought my newly obtained knowledge to class with me. Here's what I learned:
Q. 1171. Will the denial of only one article of faith make a person a heretic?
A. The denial of only one article of faith will make a person a heretic and guilty of mortal sin, because the Holy Scripture says: "Whosoever shall keep the whole law but offend in one point is become guilty of all."
I got into a "discussion"
with a novus ordo Catholic about this. She said she believed in abortion, and I quoted the above, and she said she was still Catholic, and there was a "No you aren't!" "Yes I am!" :argue: going on. And so I turned to Father, and I said, "Right, Father. You have to believe everything the Church teaches or you're not a Catholic?" and he replied, "No, that's not true." I said, "Well, then, you're a heretic!" and I'm telling you, his face got beat red like a tomato, and he said, "I'd like to see you after class."
Longest. Hour. Of my life. Everyone leaves, and he slams the door, and said, "If you ever call me that again, I'll have you expelled."
After I went down to the guidance office, to call my mother, he came down, and told my mother he was, "teaching religion as a subject."
:stare:
Really? Then why are people paying thousands of dollars to send their children to a Catholic school? Huh...
:stare:
Oh well, just wanted to share that with you.
I bet that priest still remembers me calling him a heretic. I wonder if he thinks about it much.
