Can you give us an idea of the "1 hour to 2 days" locales?
-
It's actually very, very scattered. It depends on how often your ISP updates their server information (DNS servers).
It depends more on your Internet provider than it does on your geographic location. I wish the Internet were more organized, but it's really a complicated, tangled mess.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help,

By the way, I *HATE* having to move webhosts. It's a huge pain, but one of the necessary evils in my line of work.
I just try to minimize downtime, plan ahead, time things well, etc.

Thank you for hosting this site Matthew.
-
How rude of me. Yes, thank you. What would we do without you?
-
From the time I disable CathInfo, it will anywhere from 1 hour to 2 days until it's back up again --
:scared2: :scared2: :scared2: :scared2: :scared2: :scared2:

Is Project Shift completed? If so, I'm glad I found out we have an ISP that's on the ball! :laugh2:
-
No, nothing has been moved yet. But, if something Matthew is trying works, he won't have to move.
-
Then prayers are in order, because I'm not sure I could survive two days in the desert.
Internet dependency is a sad business.
-
I thought it was too good to be true that we would actually have anything that worked so well.
I'll say a prayer that whatever it is he is doing works!

Did you ever do this? I ask because the past few days I have had, once again, problems here. I keep getting a message that, when I try to get here or even sometimes when I'm here and try to do something, that it can't connect to the database. Does this have something to do with the new server?
-
No, I won't be having to move now. (Deo Gratias!)
I think you get that message when the server I live on gets too busy -- mostly because of the other websites that live there.
I'm not rich enough to have a whole server to myself :)

That's all Greek to me, but if you say so, it must be so.
Some day, Deo volente, you will be able to afford your own. :pop:

So you did you get that one kind of account then, where you'll be hosting other people? Or didn't you have to do that?
-
Yes, I'll be getting into the hosting business, but it will be on the same account I've been on for years. I'm taking over my friend's account (I'll be paying "the bills" from now on)
I'll be advertising my hosting services on AngelusWebDesign as soon as I can get around to it.
