CathInfo is back up!

    • The expensive Corsair RM550x power supply (with a 10 year warranty) I bought 6 months ago just blew up on me this morning -- so I had to put a new power supply in the server. Luckily I keep an extra (brand new) one on hand. Corsair will be getting this one back. It didn't last 6 months.

    Plus I took advantage of that outage to hook up a 2nd hard drive (to be used as a mirror of the main hard drive -- so if one hard drive fails, the other will take over) and when I was done, I hooked up the server to a battery backup again.

    Last week, the battery in my UPS (battery backup) died. So I had to plug my server directly into the wall for about a week until the replacement arrived!

    Did I mention how I hate computers?

    • That's kind of surprising. This is only anecdotal, but my main rig has been running on a Corsair CX500 non-stop for years. Perhaps you got a dud? Glad to hear the site is back up, though.

    • When I tried to get on the new Cathinfo,  I got a message from Google Chrome that
    something is wrong about the website, check back again.
    When I used Internet Explorer it brought me to the site right away
    Now I can get on using Google Chrome.
    The new site is a great improvement.

    Maybe I should have tried Explorer?

    There wasn't any site outage at that time. I don't know what the problem was.

    Okay, so if I go to downforeveryoneorjustme.com and find that cathinfo is up for everyone else, then what? 
    I tried two different browsers and two different servers. What else can I try? 
    I was able to get on any other site I tried, but CathInfo alone was simply not happening.

    Two different servers? You mean proxy servers?

    Considering that you haven't been banned from CI, much less ip-banned, you could always just use your regular IP address to visit CathInfo (in other words, just browse CI without a proxy -- take no extra steps in this regard).

    I'm not blocking any ranges of IPs in the US or any other "decent" country -- at least not that I'm aware of.

    Another thing -- when it happens, perhaps you could go to www.whatismyip.com and tell me via e-mail what IP address is being blocked. Then I can fix it.

    • Thank you, Matthew. I was using WiFi in two different cities so I thought they were using two different servers. The IP address I'm at now is a third one, but CI came up right away this time:
