  • Internet Explorer 6.0 is not supported by Microsoft (so there are no more security updates -- now you can get lots of viruses and malware!)  :smash-pc:

It was released in 2001. Time to get a better, faster browser. They're free.

Here's the thing -- even if you're not a tech-wiz, you should upgrade your browser FOR YOUR SAKE. Here's why: if you don't, you cause web programmers all over the world to spend HOURS tweaking their websites so they'll work on YOUR browser -- IE 6.0 is full of quirks. That time COULD be spent making more user-friendly websites, so things are easier for YOU. See how it's in your best interest to upgrade?

If anyone on CathInfo has IE 6.0, you'll get a message when you visit CathInfo.

Anyone here get that message? You can PM me if you're embarrassed

Browsers are FREE, and the newer ones give you a faster browsing experience (especially if you have an older PC!)

Apple has a pretty good browser -- one of the fastest ones out there.

Firefox has a TON of great (free!) "extensions" as well.

  • I always use Firefox, but my mom for some weird reason continues to use IE, regardless of how much SLOWER it is than Firefox.

  • Actually, it IS a neutral decision.

As long as you pick a browser that is still supported by the company that wrote it, you're fine.

This isn't about Microsoft or anti-Microsoft -- go ahead and upgrade to IE 8.0. I'm just asking that people upgrade to something from the past 5 years, please!

IE 8.0 supports the least number of "HTML 5.0" features of any browser by far, but it's still light years ahead of IE 6.0.

As I just said, as long as she uses IE 7.0 or IE 8.0, she's not annoying thousands of web developers around the world.

IE 6.0 is what came with the original Windows XP in 2001. It has TONS of quirks and doesn't support even common, basic web design elements.

  • It's funny to see Matthew transition from friendly poster to firm administrator and then convincing salesman and then back to personal, friendly poster.

    "Yep, gotta wife and kids..."
    "Get this FREE software..."
    "Time to get that banstick..."

It's not often you get to be in a position where you get to see more than one side to a person.

In regards to being a responsible man, would it be interesting to learn, after six years of accuмulating all the wisdom you could, that you had it right all alon
