    Most of these are wise sayings that I have heard and there are a few new ones.  I don't know who said these first, but here are my contributions:

    Not to decide is to decide.  (So much for claiming to be taking the "prudent course".)

    There are two kinds of people in the world; those who divide things into two groups and those who don't.

    and, its corollary,

    There are ten kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary numbers and those who don't.

    There are eleven persons to the Trinity.

    Is this supposed to be a joke? I don't get it.

    11 persons in the Trinity, in binary speak.

    0011 is the number "3".      0 + 0 + 2 + 1 =  "3"

  • Ambrose Veritatis on Facebook had one I can't get out of my head:

    "Hot in this life, hot in the next."
    Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

    1 = 1
    10 = 2
    11 = 3
    100 = 4
    101 = 5
    110 = 6
    111 = 7

    Is that about right?

  • Clare, yes, that's right, says my pocket calculator.

    No, there's a mistake, because the word "eleven" means Arabic numeral and is not equaling the binary "11" but binary "1011".

    If you would have said There are 11 persons... then the 11 could be ambiguous. And that's why there's the "0b" prefix for binary notation, or "0x" for hexadecimal numbering system.

    Yes yes, I know, it was meant as a joke, but... :-)
