I have always just thrown it out.  Things are blessed to be what the are.  If it's not a candle any more, it's not blessed anymore either.

  • Blessed items are to be burned or buried.

If you cannot burn what's left, bury it.

  • I asked a priest about this once and he said that the proper thing to do is bury them if they are not something that can be easily burned.

This is where I got the same counsel, priests.

Somehow my reiteration of this was controversial as it was thumbed down.

  • I can't imagine why anyone would down thumb such a post.

There is no harm in burying it, but I think this applies only to blessed objects tat still are what they were blessed to be, such as a scapular that has become tattered and soiled or a Bible that is falling apart.  The left over wax is not candle anymore.

  • Could be an error, the thumb down, one time I mistakenly thumbed down someone, when I wanted to thumb up, so I just thumbed another post of theirs up!

    I will thumb you up.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • I just gave Sigismund and MyrnaM a thumb's up.

    Why?

I'm in a good mood and this thread brings to mind some private items I will take to an SSPX chapel on the third Sunday next month to be blessed.
