BTW, did you try reading Pius X's encyclical which I posted the link to on the Joey thread? Basically modernism is a heresy, and Pius X calls it "the synthesis of all heresies".
You might find this useful: http://www.catholicapologetics.info/modernproblems/modernism/modnsm.htm
Neo SSPX means the SSPX since it has taken a turn away from the original intent of Archbishop LeFebvre, by seeking a deal with modernist Rome, ie before Rome rejects the errors in Vatican 2.
Yes, thank you for the link which I shall read.
My own background is that I am a middle aged post V2 convert during JPII time of office. I'm from the UK. I became interested in the SSPX , been to several Latin Rite Masses depending on where I lived at the time.
At present I am no where near an SSPX chapel, so I attend NO.
Over the years, all the infighting and splits and nastiness with in some SSPXers has made me think twice about being a staunch member.
That's about it folks. If you'll bear with me and put up with my so called 'modernist' questions , I'm always a willing pupil, and I'd be happy to stay on board. Actually, I really hate the word modernist, but then I suppose what you mean by 'modernist' is Marxist doctrine in the church. Having said that, I think Pope Benedict is phenomenal scholar and thinker , I don't think his teaching is anywhere near Marxist.
God love you.
:)
Reading/posting on forums is the least efficient way to come to an understanding of the Crisis in the Church. Our lives are short and eternity is long so use your time wisely.
The Catholic Church is the one true Church founded by Jesus Christ on the rock of St. Peter. The Church is the only ark of salvation, nobody is saved outside the Church. For 1800 years the enemies of God and man attacked the Church viscously from outside. Today the enemies are not only outside, but also within the Church. Both Pope Leo XIII and Pope Pius IX, who reigned in the late 1800's, asked for "The Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita" to be published. This docuмent was a detailed plan laid out by freemasons who were to infiltrate the Catholic Church and attempt to destroy her from within. Buy this docuмent and read it.
Popes are infallible in very limited circuмstances. You do not have to follow the Pope in everything he does. Simon and Peter coexisted in the same person and sometimes Simon did things harmful to the faith, that is why we read in the Bible St. Paul rebuked him. Jorge Bergoglio and Pope Francis coexist in the same person, and often times Jorge can promote things harmful to the faith, when he does this the solution is simple, don't follow him. We have 1900 years of tradition to be our guide.
There are a few Papal encyclicals that must be read to know how the modern hierarchy is acting diabolically opposed to traditional Church teaching.
Read Pope Gregory XVI's encyclical Mirari Vos (On Liberalism and Religious Indifferentism
Read Pope St. Pius X's encyclical Pascendi Dominci Gregis (On the Doctrine of the Modernists
Read Pope Pius XI's encyclical Mortalium Animos (On True Religious Unity)
Buy or read online Archbishop Lefebvre's Open Letter to Confused Catholics
The best website that explains the modern crisis in the Church is traditioninaction.org Reading the content on that website will be a better use of your time than reading forums or other websites that are not as good.
You should go to a traditional Latin Mass if possible, even if it is a long drive. You should still go even if it isn't the SSPX or SSPX-MC.
The Douay Rheims Bible is a faithful translation of the Latin Vulgate and a must have for all Catholics who can afford to get one. The Catechism of the Council of Trent is wonderful and can be purchased from various traditional publishing companies. God Bless you.
