Hi Potiphera, I'm pleased you started this thread.

The word neo simply means new. The rest is a bit more complivated, but I'm sure you'll get your questions answered. I'll be back.

But first a bit about your own history would be helpful in knowing where to start.
How old are you, cradle catholic or convert, upbringing etc.

God bless

BTW, did you  try reading Pius X's  encyclical which I posted the link to on the Joey thread? Basically modernism is a heresy, and Pius X calls it "the synthesis of all heresies".

You might find this useful: http://www.catholicapologetics.info/modernproblems/modernism/modnsm.htm

Neo SSPX means the SSPX since it has taken a turn away from the original intent of Archbishop LeFebvre, by seeking a deal with modernist Rome, ie before Rome rejects the errors in Vatican 2.

Yes, thank you for the link which I shall read.
My own background is that I am a middle aged post V2 convert during JPII time of office.  I'm from the UK.  I became interested in the  SSPX , been to several Latin Rite Masses depending on where I lived at the time.
At present I am no where near an SSPX chapel, so I attend  NO.

Over the years, all the infighting and splits and nastiness with in some SSPXers    has made me think twice about  being a staunch member.

That's about it folks.  If you'll bear with me and put up with my so called 'modernist' questions ,  I'm always a willing pupil, and I'd be happy to stay on board.    Actually, I really hate the word modernist, but then I suppose what you mean by 'modernist'  is   Marxist doctrine in the church.   Having said that,  I think Pope Benedict is phenomenal scholar and thinker , I don't think his teaching  is anywhere near Marxist.

God love you.

:)

Ah! the picture is coming clearer. About me, I am an old Aussie cradle Catholic nurtured lovingly in the faith of our Fathers and educated in the old school by holy nuns in habits, got sucked into the Vat2 deceit and thankfully was shown the door to true freedom quite recently.

What was it that prompted your interest in SSPX and Latin Rite Masses? Curiosty? Dissatifaction? or something else altogether?

I can understand that you are reserved in your attachment. SSPX is really the only far-reaching movement that has attempted to keep the Faith intact. There are other individuals and groups which have put in a good effort, but some have caved in and others operate only in isolated situations. So the focus here is generally on SSPX.

It really is important to do your own homework on this in order to come to an understanding.

It is important to understand what we mean by the heresy of modernism, as not to get sucked in, or more probably, to extricate yourself from it. It is necessary to know the faith as it was handed down to us from the Apostles. This is NOT presented to you within the infrastructure of the Church, which was taken over in a coup called the Second Vatican Council, and what we call here the Novus Ordo (NO) or newchurch.
