Alex,
I agree with Emerentiana, I'd talk to a priest.
I imagine you are eating iron rich foods from a variety of sources, but just in case you don't have a list of them, I googled a search for iron rich foods and came up with these links:
http://www.healthcastle.com/iron.shtml and:
http://www.redcrossblood.org/learn-about-blood/health-and-wellness/iron-rich-foodsShrimp, clams and sardines are on the list so they'd be great for Friday and Lent.
Vitamin C will help your body to absorb the iron, so eat something with Vitamin C with each iron food or take a Vit. C supplement with meals. A friend of mine had that problem and was also told to drink lots of water.
If you have a blendor you can make a shake with some of the iron-rich foods (like kale, spinach, collards, prunes) and an orange or kiwi & orange juice for the vitamin C.
I just looked over the list on the Red Cross link above and they have a pretty good list, but the corn syrup suggestion surprised me. That's just crazy. That's on my no-no list, but they have some good suggestions otherwise.
Good luck to you.
