No confession and absolutely no preparation...This triviality does not seem right.
It appears that this was prearranged. So the preparation and confession would already have taken place.
I do not believe that living in sin is an impediment to marriage. Assuming this is true then, yes, a pope could marry such a couple. What a pope should marry such a couple is a different story.
