James Miller, of Tavares, was arrested Friday on animal cruelty charges.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, a woman called authorities and said her neighbor took a caged raccoon onto his pontoon boat and dropped the cage into the water. ...
When a man kills a raccoon that has killed his chickens, has broken into his home, and has caused considerable damage, isn't the raccoon's murder justified?
Unfortunately, not according to Florida laws.
Knowing Animal Control procedures and policies, that raccoon, if turned over to the authorities, would be released not too far from the man's chicken farm, and would have come back to feast on more chickens. It would be just a matter of time. And if said raccoon were to be a female, her liter would be duly trained to do the same things as she would do: killing more chickens, entering more homes, and causing more destruction.
We have too many stupid laws protecting animal pests.
Yet no laws exist to protect unborn humans.
Lord have mercy.
