He gravitated HEAVILY toward the Faith as the years went by, but remained outside of the fold because he was in love with a divorcee from the USA.

Just remember that "pagan" or "Celtic" is a euphemism for "Jєωιѕн."  But Jews are pagan now, and have been ever since they rejected Christ.  The idea that they have a "religion" is hogwash.  They are abandoned to sin and fleshly pleasure and money.

Hey hold the phone. I thought this thread was about the writings of C.S. Lewis the guy who wrote Narnia, not about being anti-Jєωιѕн. The Jєωιѕн people have a religion and a history that is even longer then ours. We even have their holy book included in ours. We have no right to say that their religion is not real any more then they have a right to bash ours.

Besides there are two things to remember when bashing the poor Jєωιѕн people (who BTW historically speaking have probably the worst luck ever when it comes to get persecuted). First of all if Jesus walked the earth today would the U.S. (you know the one with God we trust on the money) have acted any more favorably to him then the Romans did? The second thing to remember is Jesus was Jєωιѕн and even on the night before he died he celebrated his religion in the feast of the passover.

Judaism has little to nothing in common with the OT religion of the Israelites.  It is, in fact, the nullification thereof.

Jesus celebrated the OT rites because the OT was STILL VALID.  Clinging to such 2000 years after the train has left the station is hardly laudable.  As an important aside, the beliefs and practices of Judaism bear NO RESEMBLANCE to the beliefs and practices of OT Jews.

They have been persecuted because they FAILED to live up to their God-given vocation.  It is like the mess that a man becomes when he fails to answer the call to become a priest.  If he repents and returns to the appointed road, he will be fine.  If not, NOTHING will EVER work.

About mere chrisrianity... I red (past tense of read?) on the web. It was a section about pride. Lewis believed that it is still the vice of pride when you don't commit sin because you think it is below your diginity, to sin.
However the catholic church has always told her children to be mindful of their dignity and not to defile it with any sin.
I saw this in a catholic book:" there is a pride falsely called so, when one avoids what is base. It is a laudable thing."

Judaism of OT was a shadow of what was to come. A shadow, not reality itself. "first the shadow came, then the reality".But Jews rejected God's covenant. Read the Gosple's parable about some cruel gardeners who kill the son of the owner of the garden. It says that He (God)will take the garden (covenant) from them (the jews) and give it to others.
