That was me, amazon says it hasn't shipped yet and should ship on Sunday the 18th and have 1 day delivery, if it doesn't come tomorrow I will contact them again.
Wow I did not expect that.
The reason being, I click on the item and it claims to be in stock, with a possible arrival date of "tomorrow", etc.
It's like they were lying about how many they had in stock. Amazon doesn't usually do that.
Thank you though -- both for the gift, and for letting me know the status. I was wondering what was going on. I wish Amazon was a bit more advanced -- they certainly have room for improvement. When someone sends a gift to a given address, if they are an Amazon user, those order(s) should show up in some kind of "incoming" tab under Orders. Along with tracking information. It's not like the buyer isn't shipping it -- GIVING it -- to John Doe anyhow. If it's being GIVEN to John Doe, then it's John Doe's package, right? Once John Doe's address is selected for the destination, John Doe should be able to track packages that are supposedly destined for him.
Only the gift giver can track the package. Only the recipient knows when/if it arrives. See the mismatch there?
Everyone can look backwards and see how improvements have happened. I see room for improvement *today*. Someday we'll look back at 2024 Amazon and groan at how backwards, primitive, and un-integrated their system was.
On a similar note, I saw a headline about how a woman *makes a living* buying food at Sam's Club and selling it on Amazon. That shows we have a long way to go. We've all seen the ridiculously overpriced grocery items on Amazon, right? I think they're aimed at businesses, who have Amazon accounts set up -- they could get things cheaper, but they'd have to submit receipts, etc. and the path of least resistance is to buy it from Amazon and it shows up the next day. The Accountant doesn't need paperwork, because she already has access to the company Amazon account. But either way -- someone's eventually going to step into that void and fulfill that need.
You shouldn't have to pay $12 for a $4 grocery. Like I said: someday we'll look back on this decade and laugh.
