Many of you know that Amazon.com sells just about everything, and their prices are often the lowest for many items.
The only thing better than getting a good deal is getting a good deal and supporting your local Traditional Catholic message board!
It's a great way to say "Thank You" for years of work put into running this forum. CathInfo was started in August 2006. Besides the programming work and webhosting this forum requires, there are also the constant efforts required to keep CathInfo free of spammers, scammers, sneaks, and all manner of kooks. In general, it's a lot of work to keep a Trad forum like CathInfo relatively peaceful and pleasant.
Each time you visit Amazon.com, try to remember to start your session by clicking a link here on CathInfo (http://www.amazon.com/ref=as_li_ss_tl?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&tag=httpwwwchanco-20&linkId=QETR5INIUBHW6MLR) -- there's a text link at the top of the screen, and a banner at the bottom. If you click the link, it *does* work, I guess you just have to trust that it works.
I also wish they had some concrete indication -- but they unfortunately don't.
I just know that each time someone clicks that link, Amazon's software keeps track for that session (via a tracking cookie). The tracking only lasts for THAT SESSION though -- so if you come back later, remember to start your session from here again!

You get 6% of the total cost of the item a person purchased via your link??
Yes -- actually you get a larger % the more you sell. You start out at 4% for the first 10 items, then 6% for the next 20, then 6.5% for quite a while. I've never hit the 7% mark ...yet.
But when I hit the 6% bracket, *all* the items bring in that level of commission, including the first 10.
For Videos-on-demand I get 10%.

There only seems to be a 2-3 people clicking on the Amazon link, because I know the member here who bought 90% of this stuff.
To my fellow members, please use the link more if you are doing any shopping. For those who have FACEBook accounts, maybe you can tell all those on your friends list about going to CATHinfo to access the Amazon link when they want to buy something on Amazon.

From experience, I'll tell you what DOESN'T work...
I was helping my mom shop Amazon for Christmas gifts. I had already put the items into her Amazon cart and then came here and clicked through the link and then proceeded to checkout. This didn't work. You have to use the link before you place the items in your cart.

Thanks. I'll remember start to click on the link at the top of the page you have anytime I buy from Amazon and not put anything into a shopping cart first.
I do have things on a "shopping list" which I use to keep things that I want to buy someday but can't justify the expense at this time. If I click on your link first then go to my "shopping list" to buy something I finally decided to buy, do you get the credit?

One way to find out -- Maybe add the item to your cart from the main page, instead of your Wish List.
I'll probably post the list of "items bought" for a while, maybe once a month, so everyone can see that they indeed helped us out.

It apparently worked for my purchases unless someone else bought the exact same 6 items that I did, which I seriously doubt since that would be far too coincidental.

Hmm, it seems one book was credited, but another in the same shipment was not (of course it had to be the more expensive one, lol). It could be because it was in my cart at one point, and then I clicked "Save for later", and then I added it to the cart again during that session. It's funny, though, since I thought that I had saved both books for later, but maybe it was just the one. Oh well.
Lesson learned: if you add an item into your "Saved for later" list, and add it back to the cart again, it won't work. I wonder if wishlist items work. Anyone ever tried that?

Oh well, if you don't get the credit for a computer, I have fall clothes and Christmas coming up. Amazon put me on prime since I spent more than 80 in shipping (in a few months, lol). Seriously, I got a page noting the shipping I'd paid this year vs their $80/yr "free" 2-day shipping, and page was all "GRRL u stupid so you Prime now." (paraphrasing, ofc).

I looked, and it appears the computer didn't show up.
A common mistake is to place something in your cart, then remember, "Oh, I should make sure CathInfo gets credit for it!" and then you go to CathInfo, click on the link, and checkout your order.
Problem is: I don't get credit for anything already in your cart. You need to visit Amazon (using the CathInfo link), put the item(s) in your cart, then checkout.
I'm sure I've lost quite a few commissions because of that.

Try to buy local when you can, try to support fellow Traditional Catholics when you can -- but after that, there's not a lot you can do to "influence the world". Our dollar votes just don't count. There aren't enough of us, and everything is on a macro scale now. A few families could make a difference in a town. But even dozens of families wouldn't even register on the radar on a NATIONAL or GLOBAL scale. That's why the world needs to get smaller again, and one day it will...

Nope, you don't have to be a member of CathInfo.
All a person has to do is click the link here, and Amazon knows you came from here and I get credit for anything you actually add to your cart during that session.
In fact, I think it persists afterward for a while -- until you click on some other Amazon.com link on the web. Then a different person starts getting credit.

Because of my health issues and associated disabilities, I am unable to shop outside the home. So almost everything I buy comes via Amazon.co.uk
In particular, I read hundreds of books per year, and they all come from Amazon Kindle store, or the real bookstore. I'm sure my total purchases across a year would net you a reasonable amount of credit.
