  • An email dated June 15, was sent to In Spirit of Chartres Committee.  It stated that Buddhist extremists in India burnt 20 churches in one night.  The Province of Olisabang was mentioned.  Franciscan Fathers OFM are the target.  The extremist plan to destroy 200 churches and kill 200 missionaries.  All Christians are in hiding.
Question: has anyone else on this forum hear of this?

  • I have not.  Are you sure this was done by Buddhists?  I have heard of Hindus attacking Christians and churches in India, but never Buddhists.

  • So, according to Snopes, it isn't true.

Whey would anyone down thumb my post above?  I was simply asking a question. I would really appreciate if the person who down thumbed it would answer this.

I didn't thumb you down but snopes is a liberal and biased (soros funded) site.

Anyway, the Japanese Buddhists certainly persecuted Catholics.

It wouldn't be surprising. Buddhists teamed up with the Communists against the Catholic Ngo Dinh Diem in Vietnam.

Those monks burning themselves - all staged by Communists.

  • With a sub-title, "Crisis in Church," why is this thread in General Discussion,

instead of being in the Crisis in the Church sub-forum?

That may be.  I have just never heard of this happening in India.  I have heard about Hinuus in India doing this, though.

This is a bogus news item that has been put out on the net for some months now. There are no "Buddhist extremists" in India and there is no "Province of Olisabang". Christians in the Khandamal district of the state of Orissa (Odisha) in eastern India did have severe problems a year or so ago but these has subsided even though some of the victims still languish in camps.

Repeat: This is a bogus item

I also received this email, and when I checked it out it has been actually been going around for YEARS. So, like Songbird, I hope someone will close down the post as it is rather a deceiving heading. Nevertheless we can still pray for the conversion of Buddhists and for all suffering any form of persecution or terror.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.
