Is he a friend of +Williamson, or sort of piggy-backing his own cause? (I mean no insult by asking - I am not clear about Hoffmann's religion, and there are rumors...the situation tends to be a minefield).

He is a traditional Catholic that attends an SSPX mass. His major fields of study are the h0Ɩ0cαųst and Judaism. As a communicant of the SSPX and a foe of Jєωιѕн falsehood concerning the "h0Ɩ0cαųst", Mr. Hoffman has every reason to fight for Bishop Williamson.
