per Philly news there is girl from Arkansas who went swimming in lake
Watermark and has brain eating amoeba.

Girl from Georgia went on zips line line but line broke and she fell in water and she had flesh eating bacteria.

Then there a couple of little boys who died from brain eating amoebas in lakes in Florida.

Also in Florida and South America there is a type of fish which goes into human beings

Yeah, I've heard of that one. I think it's commonly called a vampire fish, but it has some other more correct scientific name. Pretty nasty!

I know that there is an increasing incidence of E. coli in degraded bodies of water caused by pollution, namely through an excess of agricultural runoff, including chemicals and animal waste. It's interesting, I think, how the rise of swimming as a bourgeois recreational activity and a basic social function within the past one hundred years has coincided with the necessary rise of mass, monocultural agribusiness to service megacities, which exponentially pollute the swimming locations or fill them with dangerous chemicals but without which there would be no such mass bourgeois social activities as a regular feature of mainstream Western nuclear family life. A paradox, no ? Something to think about.

Since we're talking about gross human parasites, check out this one- the guinea worm.

"Once inside the body, stomach acid digests the water flea, but not the guinea worm larvae that are sheltered inside. These larvae find their way to the body cavity where the female mates with a male guinea worm. This takes place approximately three months after infection. The male worm dies after mating and is absorbed.

The female, which contains larvae, burrows into the deeper connective tissues or adjacent to long bones or joints of the extremities.

Approximately one year after the infection began, the worm creates a blister in the human host's skin—usually on the leg or foot. Within 72 hours the blister ruptures, exposing one end of the emergent worm. This blister causes a very painful burning sensation as the worm emerges. Infected persons often immerse the affected limb in water to relieve the burning sensation. Once the blister or open sore is submerged in water, the adult female releases hundreds of thousands of guinea worm larvae, contaminating the water supply."

I would imagine the first few were before you said that, and because the OP didn't make any sense at all. I would imagine the ones after that were because instead of waiting to press the send button until you could formulate a complete sentence, you went ahead and created a head-scratcher of a thread.

Brain-eating amoeba are not imminent. You could have waited. :)

The thumbs-down are probably for the parasites. What this means is that CI posters are infected with them. Hello, trads! The downed thumbs are supposed to be given for ideas you think are bad, not for factual information!
