My wife and I are going to be having our first child in about a month. The baby is due around May 23. I have been looking for some good books, Catholic or not, pertaining to the raising of good children. We have a good book that deals with teaching the Faith to the child. But I am looking for a book, article, or just some good old fashion good advice on how to properly correct and discipline children. I am not completely ignorant to this topic and I do have some ideas of what to do, but I want to do some further study on the subject. Does anyone know of anything good?

Antony, the best advice I can give you is to absolutely, under no circuмstances, submit to that "Church of Nice" malarkey. Teaching the Faith to children means teaching that your actions have consequences and that we need to realize that.

I was going to order this for a family member a few months ago, but I saw this very valuable comment in Amazon:

It is still a great reference, but I advise traditional Catholics to find the original text published by the same author under the title "We and Our Children". The traditional Latin Mass was explained in beautiful detail in the original version, but in this edition, most of the descriptions were eliminated to make it "modern" and match the new Mass from the 1970s. I hope the publisher will reproduce the original, unedited version for those who appreciate the traditional liturgy. I bought both books and one can vividly see how much of our Catholic heritage we have lost when one compares the two editions and sees how much was eliminated.

So the "original' entitled We and Our Children was ordered - had to get a used copy in good condition, but what an excellent book.
