  • Hello all- at the advice of some other members, we are going to start a book 'club'. What this will entail is as follows:
-A book will be chosen to be read collectively by whomsoever would like to participate.
-The completion date, the time given to finish reading each book, will differ by book according to its length; reading time will err on the side of being slow for the sake of members who are unable to get much time in reading.
-Reading will be organized by x amount of chapters read in a given week. At the end of each week, we will try to have a discussion on what was read. Individual interpretations, sharing information we may have sought out beyond the footnotes of the book, etc.

This is all I can think of for now, but as I think of more I will post it.

Here is the book we will now start with:

The Three Ages of the Interior Life, by by Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange

    Which can be found here:
    http://www.christianperfection.info/index.php

Reading begins immediately. Start with the Introduction. It is broken up as sections A-G. Read all of them and as we go along we can discuss pertinent information, inspirational quotes, favorite lines, gatherings from meditations, take aways, etc. here at St. Francis Forums.

    Questions?

  • Christian Perfection and Contemplation is meant to be read as a preparatory introduction to this work, so it would help to have read that first probably.

  • Thanks Vlad. The person who suggested this said the same, though they said this could be read effectively if read carefully.

Nylndech- I decided against doing a vote for a few different reasons, all of which may or may not have been as good as the reasons which were for having a vote. I just wanted to get this started already after the hiccup I had :smirk:

Please let me know if you'll be joining in. Looks like it'll be a one man project for now, which I'm okay with  :read-paper:

  • *sigh*

I was really going to wait to read Christian Perfection and Contemplation first and then read this massive work, but seeing that I am moving soon and both books are packed up and not in my possession at the moment, I'm left with no choice but to read the online version with you.

    I'll join in!

Question: Where will the discussion for the book be? Public here on this forum? On your forum?

  • Is this seminary homework

If so are you using this to crib answers

I had other spiritual books in line to be [re]read

If the proposed book has a prefacing book, would prefer to read that first

    I don't read hieroglyphics.  I'm a trad Catholic, not a pagan Egyptian.
