  • Something on the lighter side, having nothing to do with Catholicism or coronavirus:

This is amazing.  I thought we could all use a little diversion in these extraordinary times.

(Unfortunate, though, that this song by Elton John --- not at all problematical in itself, in fact, it's quite the work of poetry, Bernie Taupin had a knack for that --- shares a title with that horrible movie that depicted sodomy and was apparently funded through an investment of Peter's Pence funds.  It'll be a cold day down below before I ever donate to Peter's Pence again.)

  • Bluegrass covers are a serious subgenre.  I discovered them a few years ago.  I like the lo-fi sound (hipster leftover, I guess?).  Here are a couple of my favorites (nicely enough, these bluegrass bands are often Christian, so they tend to subtly sanitize pop songs they cover, too):

And I'd love to share a Christmas with these boys:

"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • I was a sophomore in college when “Take on me” came out. The group above did a very good job! The song is too catchy.... I don’t like allowing myself to listen to it.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?
