I have a tape (1957, rec. in Australia) of Fr. Aidan McGrath who was a Legion of Mary missionary in Red China. He testifies he knew many priests who died in prison there, and tells how the very insidious Communists tortured them but would not let them die. They knew that the blood of Christians is the seed of Christianity. He had survived their torments by constant prayer, which he believed was inexplicable, but it was the reason they let him go. The Communists let such priests go free with the confidence that the world would never believe what they had to say about the Red Chinese monsters, and that the liberal press would drown out their story. Apparently they were largely correct.
.
Today's so-called catholic church prefers the warm-and-fuzzy feelgood approach, looking for all the reasons to DISbelieve the tradition of what happened to our Martyrs, and the result is ignoring what happens right in front of our eyes.

Is this the same tape, Neil:

I listened to 10 of the first and then about the same of the second, where he relates some of those stories of the martyrs.

Fr. Aidan McGrath, recorded in Australia, 1957, about his experiences for over 10 years in China running the Missions, and note how he doesn't take any credit for it -- he  says the Legion spreads itself, or  the real heroes are the Chinese Catholics, like Noelle ("N-o-e-double l-e")-- he names a few, and claims we should know their names because our children revere Hop-a-long Cassidy, Bill Haley, Marylin Monroe and Davey Crockett. What would he have to say about the likes of John Lenon, Jim Morrison, David Bowie and Michael Jackson (to name some of the less offensive ones)?
.
Sorry I just now noticed your question! Yes, the first one is the same as the tape I have, a cassette from Keep the Faith. I can't listen to the second one yet. Thanks for the links! I have played this one tape in my car many times to the point where I should have it memorized -- after all, it's on Memorex! This priest was a tremendous example of the natural faith the Irish religious had, and it seems to me, ALL the Irish inherit this religious sense, if they would only nurture it and preserve it. The corruption of the modern world is pandemic and it even has corrupted most of the Irish today, sad to say.

I said, There is a Psalm that says, "My heart is ready."
.
Apparently there are two Psalms that say that, 56:8 and 107:2.
.
[2] Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me: for my soul trusteth in thee. And in the shadow of thy wings will I hope, until iniquity pass away. [3] I will cry to God the most High; to God who hath done good to me. [4] He hath sent from heaven and delivered me: he hath made them a reproach that trod upon me. God hath sent his mercy and his truth, [5] And he hath delivered my soul from the midst of the young lions. I slept troubled. The sons of men, whose teeth are weapons and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. [6] Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory above all the earth. [7]They prepared a snare for my feet; and they bowed down my soul. They dug a pit before my face, and they are fallen into it. [8] My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will Sing, and rehearse a psalm. [9] Arise, O my glory, arise psaltery and harp: I will arise early. [10] I will give praise to thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing a psalm to thee among the nations. [11] For thy mercy is magnified even to the heavens: and thy truth unto the clouds. [12] Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth.
.
[2] My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will sing, and will give praise, with my glory. [3] Arise, my glory; arise, psaltery and harp: I will arise in the morning early. [4] I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing unto thee among the populations. [5] For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth even unto the clouds. [6] Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory over all the earth: [7]That thy beloved may be delivered. Save with thy right hand and hear me. [8] God hath spoken in his holiness. I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem and I will mete out the vale of tabernacles. [9] Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine and Ephraim the protection of my head. Juda is my king: [10] Moab the pot of my hope. Over Edom I will stretch out my shoe: the aliens are become my friends. [11] Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? [12] Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our armies? [13] O grant us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. [14] Through God we shall do mightily: and he will bring our enemies to nothing.
