  • Taken from the Rite of Sodomy by Randy Engel:

Page 510- “Since the Roman Catholic Church is, for better or worse, a hierarchical church, its structure was well suited for John Carroll’s vision of a new American Church (Amchurch) of which he was to be  a prime architect- a Church made in the likeness of the New Republic- unfettered by Roman chains.  His first salvo against the Roman church was launched at his consecration when he deleted the ritual oath to “extirpate heretics” so as not to offend Protestants.”

“At age 12 he went to Jesuit grammar school for one year and then was shipped abroad to be educated at the Jesuit College of St. Omer’s in French Flanders famous for its liberal education, training in good manners and commitment to “republicanism.”

Page 511- “According to Catholic historian Hugh J. Nolan. “Politically, he (Carroll) was most acceptable to the Founding Fathers.” He also had the imprimatur of Freemason occultist Benjamin Franklin who had connections all the Masonic lodges in England and Europe and with who Carroll maintained a warm relationship.”

Page 512- “Carroll wrote, “ In a sense, the whole history of the Church in the United States has been the gracious accepting of that change, a constant  adaptation to that life in a new and secular environment”

Carroll was also the first to ask that the vernacular be used instead of  Latin in public worship.

Page 513, During his entire bishopric he wrote not one single religious tract and only one prayer- “A prayer for Civil Authorities.”

He did show a devotion to Our Lady, just not to her son as Christ the King or the teachings of the Church He founded.

  • Thank you, Dawn.

I had a long post typed out hours ago with all of this information about Carroll, but scrapped it.

It gets worse.  How about John Ireland and that Cardinal Gibbons?  The heirarchy in this country were an abomination ready to sell the Faith and the Church down the river for a piece of that American apple pie.

  • It is what it is. And, so we can see how the "Catholics" who came in with the Prots and worked with the Prots were instrumental in destroying the Catholicism of Amerindia. Still, Amerindia remained Catholic both in Canada , and Mexico and South America for some time after the revolution. Not to worry, after they establshed the country without God and His Church they then turned their stingers to those places.

  • I am re-reading on page 523 that about 1/2 the American bishops were in oppostition to the dogma of Papal Infallibility. Even leaving Vatican I early to avoid voting.

  • Remember this is all groundwork research in her book on the Homo Sex scandal of NewChurch. These men laid the groundwork for the Lavendar Fairies Club still in plain site today.

  • Dawn called Carroll a real gem.  You have to watch her.  She can get tongue in cheek very quickly.

  • One of the best books to read that will give you a good idea of how bad things were in this country in the 1800s, is Msgr. Florence Cohalan's A Popular History of the Archdiocese of New York[/u].  Once you read that you will never again wonder how the Church collapsed "overnight" in this country after VII.

After all of my reading, it seems as if the Church was set up in this country to fail.

  • You are right. They made a new Church here in America long before Vatican II was even thought of. And, the America of the WASP was just the place for it's birth.
