This is false. 60s/70s was the heart of the sɛҳuąƖ revolution, women were not ashamed of premarital sex. They were not afraid of claiming to be raped. If anything women accused men of rape at a significantly higher level then it actually occurred. If these women were traditional catholic women looking for a traditional catholic husband, or a religious woman looking for a religious man for marriage. Then you might have a point. Because in the old days, men would be reluctant to marry a non-virginal woman, and they definitely wouldn't marry a woman with a bad reputation (woman with multiple sex partners) because the act of sex reduced the value of a woman for marriage. Thus women were afraid to come forward if raped, because even though they were the victim, their value was still diminished in the eyes of suitors. We no longer live in that world. No man believes a woman's value for a wife is less because of premarital sex, not even a lot of it. In fact I've heard men tell me that they prefer experienced women. (but as aware men know now, premarital sex for women does hurt the chances of marriage success)

I have profuse experience with women who are afraid of all kinds of things, and I personally know women who say they were afraid of reporting being raped at various times over the past 50 years. This is a human phenomenon that has nothing to do with women's liberation, which does not affect human nature. It's a fad, that's all. Fads don't change the way women feel about themselves and their experiences. Some things never change and human nature is one of them.

Does that qualify for 'empirical' evidence?
