  • I just bought a really cool bug zapper! Right now I hear "zap" every second or two, and with every "zap" I know that some annoying bug is being destroyed.

I did my homework and found a GOOD one. This model is awesome. It zaps bugs left and right, and it's NOT a cheap piece of crap from Wal-mart! You get what you pay for -- well, I spent $70 and got a very good bug zapper. All 32 customers who reviewed it gave it 5 (or at least 4) stars. The thing works, it lasts, and it mostly cleans itself. It general, it is very well designed. Here is where I bought it from:

    Flowtron BK-80D 80-Watt, 1-1/2-Acre Electronic Insect Killer

Here is a smaller model, only $40 from Amazon.com --

Flowtron Model BK-40D Electronic Insect Killer (One Acre Coverage)

  • we don't have much of a problem with mosquitos here, more with flies.  i bought one of those disposable traps that reek, it works OK since it's caught a lot of them, but since everybody is always in and out- opening and closing the doors, they still manage to get inside the house.  what's even worse is that we just got a dog, watching the llittle buggers play in the poop, then seeing them in doors is pretty disgusting.

btw, any dog owners here?  we just got a puppy and we really don't know how to start potty training her, any suggestions?

Isn't the word you used (that I put in bold) a bad word? I noticed people have been using that word quite frequently. Someone told me it means "poopoo" so is it really appropriate to use. I used to use it until someone told me what it means.

  • "piece of crap" is a colloquialism of sorts -- I know that "crap" is a more socially acceptable slang word for feces (compared with other words...) but I think the meaning is different when it is prefixed by "piece of..."

At least I don't imagine/picture a lump of anything when someone says "That car is a piece of crap!"

As language is meant to do, that phrase conveys a concept to my intellect.

  • John Crappist, invented the modern toilet in England. He was knighted for his invention, which became known as a "crapper".
His last name is how we got that word, and is why crap is commonly associated with, well, crap.
So, essentially, when you use that word, you are using someone's name.
