How is the woman now? A friend was telling me before of how she was speaking with an elderly religious sister. When out on the street, she was spat at and knocked over. Some people helped her.

Out of interest what punishment would be given for a crime like this? Whilst I do favour capital punishment, corporal punishment should be applied to the woman.

The woman, I believe, is better now. Luckily she didn't have a serious injury. To answer a previous question, it happened in daytime, in the aisle of a well known supermarket chain, in a decent part of town. That's why it was so shocking to me, because I would feel perfectly secure in those circuмstances as well. I will be more aware of my surroundings now. I do not know about the punishment-- I have a few ideas, but I don't think horse-whipping is done anymore.

The way some people act is quite disgraceful. I'm glad the woman is ok.

The reason this is going on is because it is working. Criminals are throwing an
egg at passing cars, trying to hit the windshield, in order to get the driver to
stop the car. They have a lot of trouble attacking the occupants of a moving
car. So pulling over, or using your wipers will result in you getting attacked.
Your wipers smear the egg all over making your view impossible, and your
washer/wiper will take about 5 minutes to clear the mess, if you don't run out
of fluid first. Even if you slow down, it may be enough for them to run in front
of your car to make you stop, for if you don't stop then, you'll be charged
with attempted murder. The only reasonable thing to do is to keep going,
and on up the road, after a safe distance, you can get out to clean up the
windshield. IOW, the correct answer is the last one. It takes a while to do.
And don't forget to wash off all the egg from your car's paint, because if you
leave it on for a day or two, the sun's rays will turn the egg muck into paint
remover, and you will have nice blotches of missing paint on your car.

About 30 years ago there were incidents where by you should not flash you
lights at an oncoming car with its lights off at night. Reason was that gangs
were cruising around with their lights off, deliberately, so that anyone who
flashes their headlights at them, well, the gang members then shot at the
passing car, of course. It was a new kind of drive-by shooting.

Sounds like an urban legend.
