  • So.  Went to an afternoon Mass on Friday.  It was the Vietnamese priest again.  Homily began after a short while.  He was preaching about love, as usual.  And then, he mentioned Warren Buffet.  Then he mentioned that there are two political parties in power, and that one of them has the nerve to protect the rich from getting taxed more.  He mentioned Bill Clinton's name later on.  And his homily ended with the slogan: "Yes We Can."

I believe that the Norvus Ordo Mass is vaild.  I think that this man is a priest, no matter how wrong his opinions are.  And I think it was the Body of Christ that we took.

But after this episode...I may inconvenience the family a great deal now to get to that boring old FSSP Mass on the bad part of town.  I know we should focus on Christ and the prayer of the Mass more than the personality of a priest...but this one was bad.  He basically turned the Mass into a political event, and I could see winces and sniggers among the laity there.

  • Ask him if he liked Communism back in the homeland, then ask him why he's trying to bring it here.

  • Vietnamese priests...

Is this man from Vietnam or from here? You should be able to tell by his accent.
A lot of Vietnamese priests give horrible sermons that make little sense either in their own language or in English. They want to be complimented for giving eloquent sermons.

There are a small number of Vietnamese novus ordo priests that give sermons that are traditional and spiritually edifying. Unfortunately, almost all of them suffer from some display some symtom of Vatican II.

Most often it has to do with exagerrated devotion to the Pope and a tendency to exagerrate the condition of the SSPX (for internet search type in: Huynh Doan Thanh Pio X)...Vatican II is quickly taking over both the overseas and in country Vietnamese church.

  • Its a good thing I am a sedevacantist, and do not regard any bogus ordo as valid...,.it saves me from accidentally subjecting myself to things like what the OP unfortunately had to observe.

I've only been to two bogus ordos in my entire 52 years, and both were funerals (very appropriate, IMO), and both were in the 1970s. I suppose they have gotten MUCH worse, maybe even more than the infamous  :jester: bogus ordos?

  • Bogus Ordo is a good name for it!  :laugh2:
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

I am sorry you had to put up with that.
