  • These two pictures show auroras known as the Hem of His Garment, which refers to the Robe of Christ.
    Lord have mercy.

There have been some unusually large solar flares these past few days.
Charged particles emitted from the flares result in northern lights when the particles encounter earth's field.
    .
How that can make any sense to a flat-earther is anyone's guess. Whatever. Flat-earthism is irrelevant.

  • Here is another aurora from Sweden. Beautiful and highly unusual.

Here is what the photographer had to say

Last night was unbelievable! Possibly the best show Ive ever seen. The entire sky was full of bright colorful lights and for long periods the aurora was only visible on the southern horizon.
For a brief moment this crazy spiral shape appeared in a corona. Its shot with a 14mm lens, its huge. Its a 0,5 second exposure and only appears this defined in one single shot. That one was a new for me even though Ive seen the aurora every winter season for as long as Ive lived. :)

    Lord have mercy.

There have been some unusually large solar flares these past few days.
Charged particles emitted from the flares result in northern lights when the particles encounter earth's field.

A check of the NOAA x-ray flux does not show any recent large solar flares for the past week, but we have had a huge coronal hole that was geo-centered and from which solar winds were released. These solar winds will also spark auroras.

Below is a recent picture of the sun with that huge coronal hole still visible (in black).

Also shown is the GOES x-ray flux showing a flat-lined sun with no recent solar activity. Click the graph for an enlargement.

  • Here is another glorious Hem of His Garment aurora from  the northern skies of Norway.

True lenten colors too! This is also due to the approaching equinox, which is noted for auroras.

    Lord have mercy.

  • Here are two more shots of auroras from Norway -- Hem of His Garment varieties

I love the shot below showing the huge rocks. It's a beautiful picture with great contrasts. God's world is awesome.
