  • Hi all- I'm looking for some religious audio for long car drive to work every day. I say my rosary and prayers the 1st half of the drive, then usually listen to news- but as I've come back to the Faith (I'd been... away  ) its really starting to sound like a bunch of mush. So recently i've just driven in silence which is really nice. But I wouldn't mind listening to some catholic audio at the begining and end of every day! It'll get me in the mindset to battle all the secularism which I'm beaten with all day ...

So Audio Sancto doesn't list sermon-givers' names and state they are "in good standing with their local ordinaries and Rome, incardinated with normal faculties and jurisdiction," . So i'm a little concerned about listening to their audio after reading that and am not into listening to NO or  even FSSP priests (if thats what they are).

If this is in fact what they are (NO or FSSP priests) can anyone point me in the right direction of some good, free audio available online.. thanks!

  • Also- As a side note, My signature reads "Archbi" instead of "Archbishop" which is actually on my control panel... Anyone else experience this?

The two priests (FSSP) at my parish are featured prominently there. In fact, one of them has more recorded sermons there than anyone. It's not hard to understand why. Hear, e.g., the end times sermons.

Another heavily featured priest there is not of FSSP, but is a traditionalist Franciscan. He's the one in, for example, the Lenten Mission 2007. I believe the rest are FSSP.

None of the priests on Audio Sancto perpetrate the Novus Ordo.

  • Jitpring,

Good to see you here. Since you are familiar with the FSSP, can you tell me why there has been no outcry from the FSSP regarding the planned third Assisi conference or JPII's beatification? Is it out of fear of reprisal or do the FSSP priests believe these are good things?

    Thanks

Yes, the FSSP's lack of outcry regarding these impending scandals is disappointing.

The two priests I deal with don't think these are good things. I've spoken with them personally about them. I don't know about any other FSSP priests.

Does the FSSP, as an organization, fear reprisals? Possibly. Maybe they think their position "inside" the Church isn't yet secure enough to speak out against these horrific scandals. And they know they can rely on the SSPX to do it. All those who support the FSSP should have tremendous gratitude for the SSPX.

  • I do not find "lack of outcry" even the slightest bit disappointing.  There is no dearth of outcry, scandals, infighting, backstabbing and egos vying for attention- all available at the touch of my index finger.

When I want to hear a charitable Catholic sermon at an odd time of day or night, I go to Audio Sancto and settle in for a few minutes of reassurance and hope.

Most of the sermons are really good and solidly Catholic, as in 'if it was true then, it is true now'.

I hear you, Elizabeth. Good point. There is today what I call The Outrage Imperative. Everybody's got to be OUTRAGED! about something. I can see how the FSSP's lack of outcry would be refreshing.

I live with an SSPX attendee. He was in an SSPX seminary for 5 years. We have on ongoing debate about the FSSP's "compromised" position. I say that the SSPX and FSSP are two prongs of the same attack against the Modernist infiltration. The FSSP is attacking it from "within," primarily through the reintroduction of the traditional Mass and by preaching solid doctrine, which is implicitly an attack on the errors of V2. The SSPX is the prong of the explicit attack.

  • I understand how some could say that the FSSP is attacking from within and that their solid position is not secure yet with VII which explains their lack of 'outcry'. I believe the FSSP attempts to bring about much good and change, and am thankful they continue tradition and expose many to it. But it is my understanding, and I could be wrong, that priests who join FSSP are required to sign a sworn docuмent stating they believe in all teachings and 'truths' as described in VII. In my opinion, this is why there is no definite outcry about the Assisi meetings. This is why I don't trust the FSSP (objectively) or their teachings. They are always going to be submissive to the direction assigned bishop (who of course would get direction from above), and will always be told what to do even if it against their moral judgement- as they've already sworn to do so.

There is no special emphasis on having an 'outcry' about everything. That there are no lack of outcries is not the fault of the true Traditionalists, but the impostor 'church'. The emphasis should be is that it is sad that we must be astonished at the sacrileges and blasphemes which occur. If you aren't as ashamed at the going-ons of BXVI as everyone then perhaps thats something you could reconsider.
