  • I just received the following message in regard to my support of the mission of the SSPX and other Traditional Catholic organizations:

In the love of Jesus Christ, can you not see that you are being used of Satan? You are fostering division in the body of Christ. It really doesn't matter what your reasoning is, you are straining gnats and swallowing camels.Jesus said Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God, Where exactly do you see yourselves in relation to being peacemakers? What is so very important that you should risk losing your souls because of it. I think it is time you all start reading the signs of the times and wake up! Satan is having a field day and you are arguing who is the real Church. Really? My dear brothers, it is time in the words of John Lennon that you"Come Together". Pride has infected all of you and has blinded you to your true mission in the world. "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, that you love one another", and " Father, I pray that they may be one even as we are one". Do those words mean anything to you? What about St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians , "If I have the gift of Prophecy and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and have a faith that can move mountains and have not LOVE, I AM NOTHING." Where is your love, you are so bent on being right that your love went out with the death of Pius the Tenth. You are being used as pawns of the evil one! Do your work and let God decide who is or isn't the true Church.
You certainly are not servants of God, you are like the babes that St. Paul talks of that need to be fed with milk because they are not capable of eating meat by reason of the divisions among them. THE Church is much larger than Rome and Your group put together. Open your eyes and let the Holy Spirit breathe on you and fill you with Himself. He must increase you must decrease.
May god have mercy on you for your pride and arrogance and may He open your eyes to the larger picture.

Certainly more than I care to address, but I figured parts of it may be interesting to some of you.

That's where you're wrong. It's illogical, emotional tripe.

I wouldn't waste another minute on this nonsense. In fact, I want the 30 seconds of my life back that it took to read it.

I stopped reading when he quoted John Lennon.

  • Matthew, I certainly can't respond to all attacks but don't we have a duty to try and correct error and defend the Faith?

I'm deciding whether or not to respond.

Sure, if you have the time. But who has the time to do this with all of the wacko-emoting-modernists in the world? Also, I would be curious if the duty to defend and/ or, correct error ends when those who spew such nonsense are non-Catholics. Let them go on their erroneous ways, pray, be charitable, and be a good example for them. Usually continuing on with such polemics does the opposite of bringing someone to the Faith, no?

"Our natural business lies in escaping" - Man for all seasons

Your duty is first and foremost for you to get to heaven by whatever means necessary - period.  If it does your soul no good to confront *further* those who are hell bent on their own destruction, then "shake off even the dust of your feet, for a testimony against them."

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but it seems obvious that they well know where you stand - and if that is the case then in charity you may want to reply, but insofar as being obligated at this point to do so, personally and IMHO, you will be much better off to completely ignore that letter.

"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

  • Whether you reply or not depends on:
    Who sent it to you?
    What is their position?
Did you ask for their opinion?
Why they need to quote John Lennon?
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

took you off hide to read. this fellow-or gal-is typical of the finger pointing, the "how dare you" typ e for response that is supposed to shut you down and whimper like a dog. This was the response to a friendly and mild rebuke a former friend of mine received for AB Chaput..the conservatives darling of the hour.....when he allowed a mass for an incoming pro-abort to happen in HIS cathedral! Despite the mild tone, it all went into finger wagging and how dare you judge,etc.. usually, like this fellow, they throw in scripture willy-nilly and hammer on love, emphasis meaning they love, you do not and are a hater,etc...the tone and working then implies you are the hater, lacking in charity and are a kook. Interesting, the implication that you are supposedly not loyal to Popes after Pius X.saying "do your work" means busy body work to avail and do nothing.......means stay busy for its own sake and never in anything meaningful.......now, back on hide.....

true, enough, unless this fellow is teachable-and this is unlikely....otherwise, ETA ought to continue on with his life and keep doing what he is doing......this letter writer to him can go his way or just plain piss off.....

  • That could only be interesting for showing how the emotionally driven mind of a Neocatholic works.
Those people should read Ludwig Ott's "Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma" to clear up their ideas.

Some Evangelical who sent it to me out of the blue through a social media website. It was not part of a conversation; I did not ask for his opinion.

His position seems to be: can't we all just get along? In fact, we all need to get along and if you aren't helping us all get along then you are working for Satan.
