In an 1890 Civilta Cattolica article that I am reading it says that the Aryans derive from Iafet.

Is Iafet another word for Japheth?

Good question--I spelled out the name exactly as it appears in the article. Maybe a Biblical scholar can help.

Japheth is probably correct; Catholic Bibles also tend to spell Noah as Noe and Protestants tend to spell Sem as Shem.
