  • I do not know if this is against Matthew's rules or not, but I would like to ask the people here if they know of any good Catholic websites they would recommend. They could be blogs, forums, or other websites. I know of some that I visit, but recently I have been getting very offended by nearly all of them except for this forum. I have a lot of free time these days to browse the internet, but very few sites I know of to visit. Thank you.

    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

Here are a couple that I've enjoyed for quite sometime.

http://www.voiceofcatholicradio.com/  SSPX, good sermons, worth a listen.

http://www.forchrist-contramundum.blogspot.com/  Sede blog with two bloggers.  Religious and political.  The links to sermons on you tube are from the son (recently ordained) of the woman blogger, definitely inspiring and worth a listen.

Of course, if you have some free time, an extra five decades of the Rosary is a good way to spend that extra time.

Matthew, could we get a rosary smilie.?

Care to be a little less cryptic?  Do tell, what about the friar is cultic?  Which sermon would lead people to cult like behavior or beliefs?  I'm very interested in knowing.

I've often wondered why if someone has something to say, they just don't come out and say it?  It's not nice to plant a seed of doubt in the minds of people and not tell them what crop you're sowing. :stare:

  • I only glanced at the site, Cheryl, and I do not know what t.w. meant, but I did notice at least one thing that indicated a problem.

Bp Vezelis is a problem.  He holds that he, and he alone, has jurisdiction in the entire US east of the Mississippi, and some other suspect ideas.

I have NOT examined any of the content of the site, and it is likely that MUCH there is good and useful.  Beyond that, I cannot say anything either way.  Godspeed :)

  • I met Fr Madrigal years ago, but did not even know he is a bishop now.  From what I recall, he seemed to be a very good man.  I would be interested to know who consecrated him, though.  Was it Vezelis?

Considering the authors of the blog are from Australia, it is possible they know little to nothing of the reality with Bp. Vezelis, etc.

These are wild times.  We should thank God for the good we have received, whatever the source, and never be surprised if we learn things are not what they seemed.

Perhaps some of the best advice since the Bible.  :smirk:
I renounce any and all of my former views against what the Church through Pope Leo XIII said, "This, then, is the teaching of the Catholic Church ...no one of the several forms of government is in itself condemned, inasmuch as none of them contains anythi

Thanks Eamon for the Bp. Vezelis info.  I also noticed there are links to sites for Bp. Giles, which I foolishly linked to "once".  I followed his blog to the periodical written by this particular trad group.  I only needed to read three or four paragraphs to know that this group wasn't what it seemed to be.  The Bp. had managed to bash just about every bishop from every sede tradition in less than one hundred words.  But, that should not distract from the friar's sermons that I recommended.  I have yet to listen to one that mentions the politics of traddie land. I don't know about others, but I for one, am so tired of the infighting between sede traditions!  There are some real gems hidden throughout all the sede groups as well as in the SSPX, one just needs to learn to take the good and throw away the bad.  As far as the the authors of the blog, he is an average Joe, located in or around Rochester, NY.  She, a housewife/mother in the Milwaukee area. I don't think I've ever read them mention any of the other sede traditions.  If they bash any group at all, it's the NO.  And, there's plenty of that around here as well.

  • Some of the lack of harmony is understandable and to be expected.  After all, if you strike the shepherd the sheep will scatter.  IMO, however, the situation has been intensified over the years by agents of the enemy who consciously seek to sow discord among the few who resist the changes of V2.  Such a state of affairs strikes me as par for the course; it is the contrary that would shock me.  That being said, it should not surprise us, even if it naturally disappoints us, to find many otherwise-decent folks who unwittingly sow discord of one kind or another.  As we move in such a toxic soup, we often end up doing the work of the enemy, even employing his methods without realizing it.  God bless and keep you and yours,Cheryl.  May all who read these words enjoy a peaceful and joyful Sunday, on this feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The friar sermons you recommend is the right hand of  Bp. Vezelis, Brother Bonaventure lives with him in Waterloo, Ny.  He is his "Heir to the throne so to speak".  The housewife in Milwaukee is his mother.  If you question Bp. Vezelis intentions you should also Question Brother Bonaventures.
