He is the same as "Heitanen" and "AllMonks", or at least of the same mind.

I won't have people on this board that are obsessed with sex.

Especially not those who are obsessed with sex AND near-heretical in their views about the morality of it.

And to Heitanen -- since you're obviously reading this: Go away and stay away. Go get married or something. Maybe the stay-at-home "monastic" life wasn't for you after all.

As St. Paul said, better to marry than to burn. And you burn with an obsession about a very, very small part of human life.

Do I even need to point this out -- hasn't EVERYONE noticed as well? You posted for HOURS about the very same topic, for days on end. It's all you study, think, or "know" about (though I would say you are in error, not knowledgeable, but I digress)

Because he doesn't act like the Saints did. The saints were zealous and fervent in their love of souls, the truth, and sinners.

They strove day and night to convert them.

But they didn't try to catch flies with vinegar. And they spent plenty of time in PRAYER, FASTING, and CORPORAL PENANCE to convert sinners. That is how sinners are converted.

Read "The Soul of the Apostolate" for more information. We do have to resort to words, actions, and writings -- but they are given unction and efficacy ONLY by ourselves or someone else offering up prayers and penance. That is how the economy of salvation works.

Not by armchair lay theology, ceaseless arguing, calling names (especially cuss words), and other human and base behavior.

Sorry, such a person doesn't pass my Catholic "smell test". St. Francis de Sales knew when to give up and move on to fasting and prayer for an incorrigible sinner.

But that's only if a person is TRULY interested in God and the salvation of souls. If he's interested in himself, "winning" an argument, or some other base motive (such as obsession with a given topic) -- then he'll behave differently...

He might end up in some traditional monastery, so his personality suits him for his vocation. If he cares so much about preserving chastity, let us pray for him that he will succeed in this virtue.

Why was Icterus banned?

His posting history shows him to be quite reasonable and well-spoken.

I vote to revoke that particular ban.

Maybe Matthew saw that he had the same IP as AllMonks or had some other evidence that they were the same person.

I would be surprised. Unless there's some solid evidence of him having sock puppets or making beyond-the-pale comments, I can't help but think his ban should be revoked. He seems like a low key but good poster. Check out his post history: http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php?a=search&id=3748

I apologize to Icterus. After conferring with my wife (whose intellect and opinion I respect) I realize that I was wrong.

She spends MUCH more time here than I do. For me, taking care of CathInfo is like brushing my teeth. Something I do because I have to, but not because I enjoy it.

One person PM'd me that Icterus was AllMonks, and I basically ran with it.

I was hasty, and I wanted to get it OVER WITH.

I am very busy right now, and dealing with all these prurient/NFP threads is really getting on my nerves.

I don't want so many salacious threads on my board. This isn't Fisheaters. I don't want it to become Fisheaters.

Someone complained that NFP is being discussed all over the board again. I believed them, and reacted quickly.

You know how some people are on forums -- or the Internet -- all day? Well, invert that and you have me. I am extremely busy with a family, a large project, and several smaller projects.

All my clients, including myself, want to be ready for the Christmas buying season. I feel like a CPA or tax preparer in March.

In order to be chaste in body, one must also be chaste in mind and heart. He has no vocation to monastic life if all he thinks about is sex. If he ever gives to God the devotion that he gives to sex, then he might possibly have a vocation.

I think you are right in unbanning Icterus. I may not have seen all of his posts, but I saw some of them and in the ones I saw I did not see anything bad.

Okay...a technical question.

Now, about 1/3rd of the time I change pages here, a message "Your IP address has been permanently blocked by an administrator, please contact an administrator" pops up. Sometimes, refreshing fixes it, sometimes not and I have to close and re-open the session. I have a static IP, so can't change that, any ideas how to improve this? Thanks for any help!!
