    • CathInfo's server was DDoS attacked twice (total of 1.5 hours) on Sunday night.
    I added a LOT of IP addresses to the permanent IP blacklist.

    This morning I received 2 e-mails from legit members/readers who were inadvertently added to the blacklist.
    Apparently they were hitting <F5> refresh page too vigorously and/or too frequently, and so it looked like they were one of the attackers hammering the server!
    (NOTE: Don't do that in the future! If the site is down, it's down, and you'll have to wait for it to come back up.)

    If you know anyone who can't access CathInfo (or my other sites on the server: ChantCd.com, FileAnon.com, etc.) please have them contact me so I can fix it.

    I notice that traffic is down 13-15% compared to normal. So I'm going to have to roll back some of those IP addresses I added to the blacklist...

    Yeah I noticed with NordVPN that it was very hit or miss with whether or not I could access Cathinfo. I think it's probably for security reasons(maybe the DDOSers attack through those VPN ids - sorry if that sounds stupid, I don't know how that stuff works at all), but it is unfortunate. 
    Anyway, I'm fairly shocked and appalled that the site was DDOS'd. Cathinfo is small enough that any DDOS'ing must've been quite personal, obviously someone was clearly angry about something posted on here.

    • The website that Q uses was also hit extremely hard by DDOSing.

    Could the Deep State be attacking CI?

    I was unable to visit Cathinfo for parts of three days. I thought that my ISP was blocking Cathinfo as a hate site, but it was not the case, and after I contacted Matthew he fixed the problem and I was able to visit Cathinfo again.

    Because the problem with gray area search engines/bots/who-knows-what continues.

    I have a software script that helps me process the log files, but a script is as dumb as any computer, so...

    • The server is being hit again -- it could be Chinese bot farms from no-name search engines, or random script kiddies -- nothing CathInfo specific. It's affecting the site performance somewhat, but I'll deal with it. It shouldn't be hard.


    UPDATE: As of about 11:15, the website is completely back to normal.
    This attack just made my server that much stronger. I optimized some more things on the site, and basically made the site leaner & meaner, so it could handle much more traffic. Plus I moved a couple other improvements higher on the list, to be done very soon. The server and CathInfo get better and better all the time...

    I spit in the general direction of the attacker(s).
    To them I say:
    You caused a minor inconvenience. In attacking me, you completely wasted your money and/or fleet of compromised PCs. Thank you, kiddo, for helping me prepare my server for REAL attacks from grown up hackers with at least an ounce of testosterone. As opposed to you, who look like a tranny that would "pass".

    P.S.
    I might be wrong about the attack being over. My bad! I just didn't notice it, that's all. Are you still there, mosquito?
