He was on my Facebook friends for a while, he kind of talks to himself and doesn't join in any conversations, at least that I can see.
Gee, that doesn't sound calculated to make me look odd :)
Today he posted an Oscar-night "nip slip" and I instantly took him off my page, which I was on the verge of doing anyway because of his foul language. What is wrong with this guy?
I never posted such a thing, Mike -- and anyone is welcome to befriend me there to review my own profile in order to verify if I do or do not use foul language on anything like a regular basis. It would not be that much work to make a post on CI that shows every single word I've posted on FB in the last six months. Would that make you feel better, Mike, or make you feel a little uncomfortable about having others see that you may not be what you appear or think yourself to be? Frankly, even if I were cursing like a sailor on FB, you'd find it tricky to justify telling others on CI about it. I suppose you could attempt some slippery argument about how my cursing on FB affects the common good of those on a forum like CI, where I have not posted for months, but I would not hold my breath that you'd be able to pull it off.
FWIW, I am not saying the item Mike mentioned did not show up on my/your page somehow -- perhaps it did -- but I never posted it and it is not there now. I just took a look at my own list of items I posted going back more than six weeks to see if I did so by accident, but there is absolutely nothing there of that kind.
Thanks for saying something to me about it before blabbing on here :) I'd say something crass or use major-league profanity to make you feel as if your groundless attack was justified, but I have better things to do...
In this case it's clear that Eamon knows better than to post something like that, which he did without any explanation.
If I did it, it was an accident, but the accident could not have been undone unless I both realized it and took the appropriate measure to remove it. As far as I know and recall, neither took place -- and it isn't there now. Mike, you should know better than to discuss such things publicly, even if it were true. What good purpose does it serve?
That said, I am glad you said all you did, Mike, and I thank God that all things happen as He knows it best. Godspeed to all of you: Mike, Myrna, Matthew, Andy, et alii. May the remainder of your Lenten penances yield abundant fruit this Easter and beyond. Thank you for all your kindnesses over the years.
