  • I got a few thumbs down for it but Eamon had a good idea of starting a Traditional parish and then hiring the priest so the control remained with the congregation and prevented a lot of these scandals with sspx break-away priests/bishops creating their own little side of Heaven. (i.e. cult)

    Yeah. I'm at home.

  • Interesting this thread comes up today.  He was on my Facebook friends for a while, he kind of talks to himself and doesn't join in any conversations, at least that I can see.

Today he posted an Oscar-night "nip slip" and I instantly took him off my page, which I was on the verge of doing anyway because of his foul language.  What is wrong with this guy?

By the way, I give people the benefit of the doubt.  One guy on there had immodest pictures, I told him about it and he took them down.  It was a page of Photoshop mistakes which he was collecting, like when advertisers airbrush photos and it looks wrong or distorted, and there were girls in bikinis and so on.  I can see how in that case it would be inadvertent and thoughtless.  In this case it's clear that Eamon knows better than to post something like that, which he did without any explanation.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • I think Eamon needs guidance from a Traditional priest. Does he even attend Mass anywhere?

Why not confront him there, on his page?  I'm looking at his page I don't see much that's offensive.

That could easily be a virus or hacker. I've had many friends get totally inappropriate things posted on their walls and those of their friends through viruses.

Gee, that doesn't sound calculated to make me look odd :)

I never posted such a thing, Mike -- and anyone is welcome to befriend me there to review my own profile in order to verify if I do or do not use foul language on anything like a regular basis.  It would not be that much work to make a post on CI that shows every single word I've posted on FB in the last six months.  Would that make you feel better, Mike, or make you feel a little uncomfortable about having others see that you may not be what you appear or think yourself to be?  Frankly, even if I were cursing like a sailor on FB, you'd find it tricky to justify telling others on CI about it.  I suppose you could attempt some slippery argument about how my cursing on FB affects the common good of those on a forum like CI, where I have not posted for months, but I would not hold my breath that you'd be able to pull it off.

FWIW, I am not saying the item Mike mentioned did not show up on my/your page somehow -- perhaps it did -- but I never posted it and it is not there now.  I just took a look at my own list of items I posted going back more than six weeks to see if I did so by accident, but there is absolutely nothing there of that kind.

Thanks for saying something to me about it before blabbing on here :)  I'd say something crass or use major-league profanity to make you feel as if your groundless attack was justified, but I have better things to do...

If I did it, it was an accident, but the accident could not have been undone unless I both realized it and took the appropriate measure to remove it.  As far as I know and recall, neither took place -- and it isn't there now.  Mike, you should know better than to discuss such things publicly, even if it were true.  What good purpose does it serve?

That said, I am glad you said all you did, Mike, and I thank God that all things happen as He knows it best.  Godspeed to all of you: Mike, Myrna, Matthew, Andy, et alii.  May the remainder of your Lenten penances yield abundant fruit this Easter and beyond.  Thank you for all your kindnesses over the years.

    Yes.

Then confront me or PM me via FB, Mike.  Talking about it here, where I had not posted for some time, is not the right way to go about it.

As for weird, you've never had a job in your life, Mike -- and I am the weird one?  Well, life is full of mysteries...

Shall I collect all I've said on FB, which is not actually very much, or do you want the honors?  I am truly amazed that you can tell when a man is being "weird" merely by reading a few things he's posted to FB!  Now THAT is weird -- perhaps a rare and useful skill, but weird all the same...  FWIW, I only use FB to post news items that I hope might wake some people up to what is going on in this crazy world.

Mike, you know next to nothing about me and have no idea what I do with my time.  For all you know, I am the most normal man you could ever meet -- and after this, it is probably much better if we never meet.  I am not saying I am the most normal man, etc., but you have absolutely ZERO knowledge to the contrary, so the wiser course is to remain silent.

Excellent advice, Tele.  Thank you and may God reward you for your kindness in my regard.  If any of my past behavior toward you offended God or harmed you, I beg your pardon.  Godspeed to you and all who read these words.
