  • I'm working on creating a blog for the young adult group we are forming at church.  What I'm curious about is, can you make it private to where only the members in your group can see it?  And can you make it to where all the members in your groups can post things?  Thanks for you help!

  • It depends which you use. Many use Blogger or WordPress. They can host a domain name or a person could build their own blog.

Using Blogger for example, it is possible to have the blog private and restricted to 100 readers. The administrator of the blog can appoint/invite others via email to post on the blog.

A blog should never replace the work done on the ground though. I mean the activity at local level. A blog really is to post information.

Whilst many groups and organisations use Facebook, I would avoid it.

  • I was going to use Blogger and it's just a way for us to post funny stuff, discuss things, and ask each other questions since we are only able to meet once a month but all still want to stay in contact with each other.  Now in order for this to work does everyone have to have a gmail account or can they have yahoo, hotmail, or whatever else?

  • You might consider using Yahoo Groups as it is easy to use and easy to keep private, downside is that everyone must have a yahoo ID.

  • I think you need a gmail account to set up Blogger but I stand corrected. I think it is still possible to add people, who can post to a blog regardless if they have gmail or not.

You may not want to use a blog for that.

Google Groups may be much better. I have not run a group, but I have been a part of one.

It can be used on the site itself, or entirely through email. You do not need a Google account to use it, although, you do need one to create and run a Google Group.
