Hey. Is anyone here from the great state of Maryland? has anyone been there?
Have you attended mass at St. Alphonsus or Saint Hilary's?
This is a generic Maryland thread.
Enjoy

I'm not from Maryland, but are you referring to St. Hilary's the N.O. church or St. Hilary's the SSPV church?

My parents lived on the Eastern Shore for 16 years. I never was able to find a Latin Mass to attend when I visited, so if I was there on Sunday, I sat in the pew in their novus ordo church and prayed the Rosary until I was rudely informed by a pants wearing lady Eucharistic minister that Rosary praying was "inappropriate" during mass. I should "participate in the liturgy." Rather than make a problem for my parents, after that, I stayed away. I was once introduced to one of the priests in Walmart. Fr. was wearing shorts, T-shirt, sneakers and a baseball cap. Let's just say I was not impressed. I hate to think what St. Francis de Sales would have to say about the parish under his patronage. The closest Latin Mass was 115 miles away in Wilmington, just too far to reasonably attend. Add another 50 miles to the round-trip and I'd be back home in New York.
My parents moved back to NY last year as the up-keep of their home in MD got too difficult with no family nearby. The Eastern Shore is lovely, beaches, the bay, holly and pine forests, mild climate. Spiritually, pretty much a Traditional wasteland!

I'm sitting next to a native Marylander. ( but not a Catholic).
For many years when I was little and novus ordo there were many old ladies praying the Rosary during Mass.
I just prayed the rosary during my uncle's novus ordo funeral service.

Saint Alphonsus, our local diocesan tlm, is great. I love it! and I love OC! its much better than the more crowded trashy beaches in NJ!

I love Assateague (Maryland side. (Federal) the ponies and deer running wild. And the ocean. And doggie beach. Many hiking trails. I like it because it is natural. There are no casinos, boardwalk , amusement rides. The people are friendly.
I think last week someone hit and killed 25 year old horse with their vehicle.
We haven't been down any shore this year. Usually we sneak down for a day trip on Saturday. Do some work in morning then go to Assateague. Then drive back home Then go to Mass next day.

I am moving to Easton from Annapolis. Can you tell me what church you went to? I am curious about Saints Peter and Paul coming from St. Mary's with the Redemptorist community. I am hoping to find a local community of Catholics near and travel to the TLM at St. Alphonsus once a month with my family.
