  • I have a friend who's Polish. He never let's anyone forget it. He claims that Poland is the one country that has held to the true Faith. I know he's wrong, but, he is always ranting. He says divine mercy started there. Of course, he's in love with JPII. Funny thin is, he claims to be traditional.
I know he's wrong, but, I was wondering if others have come across this misplaced love of Poland.

  • This is good!

    St. Casimir of Poland

Patron saint of Poland and Lithuania. He was born in 1458 or 1460, the third of thirteen children of King Casimir IV and Elizabeth of Austria, daughter of Albert II of Habsburg. He was born on October 3, 1460, in the royal palace at Cracow, Poland. The young prince was trained in spirituality and displayed holiness at an early age. When Casimir IV ordered Casimir to lead an army against King Matthias I Corvinus of Hungary in 1471, he refused. Casimir believed an attempt to seize the Hungarian throne was unjust and refused to take part in it. He was confined to the castle of Dzoki as punishment, and there he refused as well to marry, as his father commanded. When his father was away from Poland from 1479-1483, Casimir served as regent of the nation. Casimir died of consumption on March 4 while visiting Grodno, Lithuania. Buried at Vilnius, Lithuania, his tomb became famed for miracles, and he was canonized in 1522 by Pope Adrian VI . Casimir is also patron of the Knights of St. John and is invoked against enemies of Poland and the faith.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Poland is not even close what she used to be. (Speaking as one of Polish pickle descent.) The few Poles who I met who came to a Latin Mass, most of them never remained for long. Often the cultural/language bond is stronger than adherence to the true Faith. There are others though who are staunchly traditional, but that is but a few pickles out of a whole garden, to extend the metaphor.

  • Poland breeds some fantastically beautiful Arabian horses.

In matters of Faith, she is not doing so well, I think.
The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.  But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth, and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep.  A

  • In recent hours they announced  the next World Youth Day will take place in Krakow in 1916.

I certainly prefer Germany and the Germans to the Poles.

In Ireland the Polish have been the cheap foreign labour for the Capitalists and many poles have taken advantage of the social welfare system. Magda living in Donegal called the welfare system her “Hawaiian massage”.

I have no doubt some arrived in Ireland to keep Ireland Catholic but not the main reason of the mass influx of Polish.Cheap foreign labour for the enemies of the Irish people.

They can never be critical of Ireland because we educated their children and many returned to Poland much wealthier.

As I said I prefer the great German Nation and people.

    Krakow in 1916.

Of course I meant 2016. Regarding 1916, the Poles are very interested in Irish history and the 1916 Easter Rising.

The Poles seem to hate everybody even themselves.

  • I live near a large Polish community in England. Any Catholic should surely find much more in common with your average Pole than they would with your average Englishman. From my experience Polish people are still among the somewhat more conservative in Europe. Most I've known have a pro-Catholic outlook, even those who aren't of of the highest moral character. That can't be said about many peoples in the modern world.

  • When discussing Poland always remember books like Truth For Germany by Udo Walendy. The Poles love to regard themselves as victims but the facts state otherwise.

On this point I proclaim boldly

    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles

Always friends with Ireland. Germany is my favourite place.

  • King Jan III Sobieski who took care of the Muslims at Vienna. Many saints as well. The people are for the most part devout Novus Ordinarians but still a lot of atheists/communists out there.

    Bishop Donald Sanborn recently visited Fr. Rafal Trytek in Krakow. His Excellency's sermon;

  • There is!!!! The Winged Hussars from Poland:

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  •  :really-mad2:Many of my ancestors come from Poland.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • All my family outside of North America are originally derived from Poland.
Nothing wrong with being proud of one's ancestry and motherland, as long as in my opinion it does not overshadow the superior position to be held by one's faith, Traditional Catholic faith.

Because of WWII and Communist Russia, elder family and relatives were, shall we say, none too crazy about both Germans and Russians. That is putting it very very mildly.

At least Poland was not responsible for starting three major European (and later world) wars.
