I fail to see the connection between Halloween (today) being about mocking the devil and having children impersonate characters of the occult.

It's a weak blog post.

Obviously Hallow'een is a Catholic Holiday.  But dressing up as Satan or one of his minions is not.  

There is no Catholic Halloween

There is Catholic All Saints Day eve or All Hallows Eve in the English Vernacular but NO Halloween.

The Roman Calendar in the Roman Breviary from 1956 shows the last feast day in October is October 28, the Feast of Saints Simon and Jude. There is a feast that depends on which day is the last Sunday in October, a most important feast, if it falls on October 31 then it is there, the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King. There is no feast specifically assigned to October 31, but first Vespers, which is always said on the evening of the day before, from November 1 All Saints, is therefore always on October 31 evening.

The period after the first vespers of the feast of All Saints Day. This night is holy.
We should be in prayer.
 

If Halloween is evil then so is day of the dead.  And don't you put up a Christmas tree because that is evil and pagan too.   Lol.  

Anyway, our Church is having a party after Mass.  The children will be dressed up as saints.  


I'm Catholic not Protestant.  

There is a time and place for everything.  

Halloween is Irish American Catholic.  And we as Irish Catholic go To Mass on Nov 1 and 2. It's our roots are from Ireland.  What's the matter with Irish culture?    It is similiar to mexico's day of dead.  

In America they are removing Halloween from public schools because connection to Irish Catholicism.   They are trying remove St Columbus too saying it is fact.  St Patrick day in Ireland is a day of prayer.  The liberals are working hard to replace the shamrock with the four leaf clover.  

I think it is great that many Catholics have children dressed up as saints and angels. What an awesome way to celebrate our Catholic faith.  

Non Catholic holidays wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Christmas.

A couple hours ago I was verbally attacked by an Irish "Catholic" councilman because I was pro life and pro marriage.   I was called a racist because I didn't vote for Obama.  I was uninformed voter because I won't vote for Ms Planned parenthood Barbara buono and same sex marriage.  I'm a bigot because I support marriage.



I asked why the local novus ordo parish shutdown.  
Why doesn't the local school have normal Halloween and Christmas.  
I told him that it is a disgrace to walk down a middle school and see pictures of Mennorahs near pictures of Christmas trees.   Menorah is religious symbol Christmas tree secular.

He starting getting really nasty with me.   Saying I'm a racist Bigot.  He says that he can't wait to marry gαy people.   He said that everyone should be treated equally.  Maybe he wants to be next Mayor.

The mayor is one of the few novous ordo Catholics who is prolife.  I also heard that he will refuse Marry same sex couples.  




In Philadelphia and New Jersey liberalism is  the thinking of most novus ordo Catholics.  

We as Catholics will soon be faced with further persecutions.  

We need to get our priorities straight and work and pray together to defend the faith.  

These people are being led astray by their priests and bishops of novus ordo.  The Camden Diocese blew $20,000 to learn that people in their diocese don't know their Catholic faith.  

Whats the matter with American culture you should ask.
Why do americans think that their anglo society ought to be imposed on the rest of the world. America is the filth factory of the world infecting the world like a virus with its materialistic hyper individualism. At least at haloween the neighbours are in some small contact with each other. But in England it is normal to live next door to someone for 20 years and not know even their name. I think these community gatherings are important, it reminds us that we belong as one family. And as far as it not being Catholic, haloween makes light heart of notions of demons and evil, but it might remind people that there is such a thing, just as a certain football team with the red devils as their name and logo might remind people that there is such a thing as devils. The whole thing has some memory of Christianity in it.
America is no role model, and Ireland does not have nearly as inhuman a society as you, but probably because American Catholics feel more under pressure from their government they go too puritanical and lose sight of the fact that this holiday has no significance other than "craic".
Also, it was the Irish monks who came up with the format of confession to priests behind a screen, and it was us, and nobody else, who brought Catholicism to Europe full of warlike pagans.

We had to delay our family rosary until 8:30 last night because of the constant interruption of people BANGING ON OUR FRONT DOOR. We had all the lights turned off yet there was still pounding on our door and requests for candy.

Did you tell them they are condemned to hell or did you just give them sweets?

Yesterday was like a monsoon here, so there was no trick or treaters in sight.

Our SSPX Chapel is having an All Saints' Day party this Sunday. The children will dress up as Saints.  :smile:
