  • Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  •   Nice Job R76.

      quote "Notwithstanding this obstacle, it seems that you ought to be able to agree upon the biologic disfellowshiping of your more markedly unfit, defective, degenerate, and antisocial stocks."

    =======================

       Isn't that the whole point of Christianity ? To overcome sin stained human nature with the grace of Jesus Christ? If the Church was faithful and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ instead of satanic fairy tales, you would have less people in the pit marked unfit, defective , degenerate and antisocial.

       Thanks for bringing up this sensitive subject where few dare to tread.

    ====================

      I had a grade school nun who was very happy that blacks did not attend her all white Catholic school in a nearly all black neighborhood. Although she was a good person, this common attitude made me realize that the devil did plant a lot of weeds in the Catholic Church.

  • Geez, did you get this from Wikipedia?

    The source (number 5) for the quote given is this:

    http://www.all-jesus.com/scriptures/bible1-4.htm

    Going to the main page it's evident that this "Catholic" believes in a number of recent "Mary" apparitions including Medjugorje.

    He also links to some stupid thing called a "Biblecode" and from this he gets his belief that Fatima was a false apparation.

    It's a safe bet that this guy is a kook.
    2 Corinthians 4:3-4

    And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

  • "How can modern (liberal) man be so stupid as to posit that "everyone is equal" when all of creation screams the opposite? If you lined up all the animals, you could rank them from greatest to least. God puts a hierarchy into everything He creates."

    ===================================

      God judges the proud and warns about people who look down on other people. It is a crime that American Catholics have done such a lousy job evangelizing Blacks. Signs of a hierarchy gone mad with power.

      I wish we had many Black American Catholics. I don't think they would be as quiet and beaten down about apostasy as White Catholics have been. In other words, they would not take the crap dished out by the "servant of servants".

       If you people think you are top of the spiritual hierarchy, better think again.

  • That's nothing. I'll pick a better example:

    The Jєωs were intended to be the primary apostles of the Gospel, and they turned down the job.

    The fact that the Jєωs, as a whole, were unfaithful to God's plan takes away nothing from the fact that God DID have a plan for them. They abused their Free Will to go against God's plan.

    Reading history really gives you a sense of God's providence. For example, Europe Christianized Ireland out of the darkness of paganism, and then, only a few hundred years later, Ireland had to send out missionaries to re-Christianize Europe! Likewise, the Catholic Church lost many members during the Protestant Revolt, but at the same time new converts were being made by Spanish, French, and Portuguese missionaries in the New World.

    It has nothing to do with pride! Are you that dense?

    Are you saying that every time a person helps someone morally, spiritually, economically, or physically he's puffed up with pride? Nonsense. It's what someone "with more" is SUPPOSED to do, being well aware that all his goods and gifts came from God.

  • Mutilation of females is practiced in parts of India, also wife burning.  Honor killing in Muslim lands.  discarding female rampant in China.

    Matthew, Abp. Lefebvre formed many holy Catholic priests during his many years as a Holy Ghost Father in Africa.  It is a huge continent.  It is too huge to make such sweeping condemnations.  Ethiopia has a beautiful ancient Catholic history.  I lived near a large Ethiopean ex-pat community at one time, and 99% of them had FAR better manners than most.  The Dr. who delivered my son was a prince from Camaroon, with 10 children of his own.  He was the only one who would save my son's life.

    Before Our Lady appeared in Mexico, the culture was savagely pagan.  Pray for the conversion of Russia to the Immaculate Heart.

  • Emmerich's writings are unreliable, they were never used for her beatification.  Due to the fact that they were edited by Clemens Brentano.

    Solange Hertz wrote an excellent article dealing with the problems of Emmerich's writings.

  • I realize that pagan practices are abhorrent wherever they are practiced. Even Europe was not always Christian, for that matter.

    But once the Gospel was preached to them, they (as a whole) accepted it.

    To be clear, I wasn't saying that all black people are of bad will, or will necessarily reject the Gospel. On the contrary, it is the duty of those countries and peoples with the Faith to spread that Faith to those who still live in darkness. I did mention in my original post that Abp. Lefebvre made converts in Africa. The converts were fervent and were probably better Catholics than a lot of trad Catholics we see today.

    Your statement about the polite Ethiopians mirrors the oft-quoted fact that converted Jєωs make the best Catholics. Both are true. The problem is that they are a minority (pardon the pun). As a GROUP, the Jєωs rejected, and still reject, God and His Christ.

    Regarding Africa -- If we claim they don't live in darkness spiritually, we will end up in the multicultural camp saying things like, "All cultures are equal. We need to learn from those African tribes! Their customs can enrich us." whereas we know that their culture is based on paganism and darkness, and ought to be destroyed in favor of a higher, Christian culture.

    When it comes down to it, it's the same Original Sin that we're all afflicted with. It just afflicts different people in different ways.

      Sorry, I don't see every put down you dish out as a gift from God.

      FYI - Check your baggage. Not all your gifts and goods seem to have a heavenly destination.

    I'm not dishing out any put-downs.
    You're only showing the degeneration of your intellect, after a lifetime of living in a liberal country like America. You can't seem to distinguish between some pretty major items.

    Please define "put down". I'm serious -- define it, or you have to leave this thread.

    The level of the current conversation is about 10 miles high. You're stuck at an elevation of about 10 FEET.

    I don't care to discuss individuals. I don't know anything about most of them, even their exterior -- nevermind their interior, where only God knows what goes on. God is the judge of all men, I don't judge.

    I am a philosopher though. God wants us to use our higher faculties -- Intellect and Free Will. We CAN use our intellects to seize upon truth and possess it with certainty. I'm not a modern philosopher that thinks all truth is relative, or that we're always searching and never finding (what's the point then?)

  • If you want to make a baseless claim, and then fail to substantiate that claim (that is, to define where exactly I am wrong), then go ahead -- run away.

    I demanded that you define "putdown" because my next question was going to be "show me the putdown".

    But you'd rather throw out vague complaints that you hope will stick. You won't debate the issue -- it's all about personalities for you. That's fine -- but that's normally how women operate. Men are supposed to see past individuals, and be able to debate and discuss in the abstract realm of ideas.
