The Talk Origins website is devoted to defending Darwinian evolution (a scientific theory that I accept with respect to the biological origins of life), and to an extent, the promotion of atheistic materialism (which I reject as being philosophically absurd.) As for the story of Noah and the worldwide flood, I consider that to be in the same genre as the story of Adam & Eve. According to all the archaeologically and genetic evidence, there was never a flood that completely covered the Earth here in the last 10 million years and that destroyed all the life on the earth. Within Catholicism, this has always been known to be the case, as clearly, the life in the ocean (fish, mammals, etc.) would survive such a calamity, if it had occurred, and this has always been understood. We can accept the story as being an Old Testament parable and not as literal history, as the Church has never defined it as such.
