  • As there have been squirrels, tis only dignum and iustum to spare some poetry on perhaps the most prominent Christmas mammal, perhaps even more than the reindeer.....the wondrous polar bear.

O Christmas bear, O Christmas bear,
what a lovely red scarf you have there.
Does it keep you warm in winter time?
Is the weave course or fine?
O Christmas bear, O Christmas bear
how wondrous how God have made thee.

O Christmas bear O Christmas bear,
do you drink sugarcane Coca cola?
You know the stuff, comes from Mexico,
taste better when it is ice cold,
O Christmas bear, O Christmas bear
please have a bottle on me.

O Christmas bear O Christmas bear
has St. Nicholas visited you up there?
Not the fat old Santa Claus,
a pagan idol that should give us pause/paws,
O Christmas bear O Christmas bear,
we know you are truly Catholic.

O Christmas bear O Christmas bear,
    Thou sovereign of the Arctic
with white foxes that play nearby,
and snowy owls that dot the sky
oh Christmas bear O Christmas bear
I wish that I could hug thee.

Da pacem Domine in diebus nostris
    Qui non est alius
    Qui pugnet pro nobis
    Nisi  tu Deus noster
