  • Why is so much of this filmed from the back of the altar so that we can see the face of the priest?

It seems that this is simply the wrong perspective to view a Mass.

Salve sancta parens ..... with a French accent!

    The Tract says:

Rejoice, O Virgin Mary, thou alone hast destroyed all heresies.

Who didst believe the words of the Archangel Gabriel.

Whilst a virgin thou didst bring forth God and man:

And after childbirth thou didst remain a virgin.

O Mother of God, intercede for us.

Does anyone know if these timeless words have been set to polyphony?

There is Gregorian Chant for them...........

    Latin:

Gaude, Maria Virgo, cunctas haereses sola interemisti.

    Quae Gabrielis Archangeli dictis credidisti.

Dum Virgo Deum et hominem genuisti :

et post partum Virgo inviolata permansisti.

    Dei Genetrix, intercede pro nobis.

Most probably to rival the FSSP video of similar theme/intention, highly produced at the EWTN church/monastery.

Two of a kind as far as video production is concerned.

I was at a homeschool conference a while ago in which one of the vendors had a book about the Holy Eucharist on display.  The picture on the cover showed the hands of the priest at the elevation after the consecration.  The picture looked exceedingly odd to me, though, for the life of me, I could not figure out why.  It wasn't until I was driving home that I realized that the photo was of the hands of a priest facing the congregation whereas I have been seeing the elevation from a proper perspective (that of the priest facing the Altar and Tabernacle) for many years.

The view from behind and aside the altar is good for an instructional video about the Mass, such in as the old video, The Most Beautiful Thing This Side of Heaven.  But this perspective is simply not appropriate in a devotional video.

No this is an SSPX Mass. If you look at the description below the YouTube video you can see that it is an instructional video which is why it is filmed from behind the altar.
"This video is from the DVD of the FSSPX :
"HOW TO CELEBRATE THE TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC MASS".

The Dominican chapel is much, much less ornate than this one and religious order priests usually have what looks like a white hood over the back of their chausables.

is what their chapel looks like. (I don't know how to imbed videos.)
