Praying audibly whenever possible, and with the lips at all other times, is a good habit.

This is very true. I face many distractions when praying the Rosary, and I find your advice to be helpful.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • My conversion happened while praying the rosary audibly.  Fr. Malachi Martin said praying audibly is very hateful to devils and demons.  I find it hard to keep it up sometimes because I'm not physically used to it yet, and of course there's self-consciousness if I happen to be in public and alone at the time of the Angelus. My lips used to stick together sometimes, or my mouth would get dry, especially during the rosary.  But with practice, it all gets easier.  It's well worth the effort.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?

  • When demons are troublesome and mental prayer isn't enough to stop it, audibly the holy names definitely scares them away!

Just keep saying from the heart, 'Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.' 'Blessed be the Holy Names of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.' while there is trouble, and the trouble will be blocked.

    : )

    Sincerely,

    Shin

The Catholic Dictionary - published by The Catholic Press, Inc., Chicago Illinois, 1950 Imprimatur + Samuel Cardinal Stritch Archbishop of Chicago Chicago, August 5, 1950

Possession, Diabolical. One of the three ways the devil has of injuring men, the other two being temptation and obsession. The devil tempts men through their senses and imagination and by arousing their evil passions. By obsession is meant the external afflictions which a human being may be forced to undergo by the devil. Thus, for example, the devil afflicted Job, by taking from him his possessions and his health and by afflicting him with bodily sores. By possession is meant control of our actions by the devil, who really inhabits the body of the possessed. Thus, for example, a possessed man may curse or blaspheme; but in reality he is only an instrument being used by the devil, by whose power he is possessed.

Possession or obsession by the devil is not always a sign of the sinfulness of the afflicted person. For God at times allows the good to suffer thus, possibly to try their virtue or to increase their merits.

The Church has a special form of adjuration (which see) by which the devil is cast out of a possessed person. The rite is called exorcism (which see).

    [end of Catholic Dictionary entry]

True possession is rare and should not be assumed to be the case without verifiable proof. Perfect possession has been treated by Father Malachi Martin and isn't part of this discussion. The word "perfect" in that phrase has nothing to do with anything good. Enough said about that.

    Temptation is common.

Obsession is less common, but it is what has been described on this thread.

Obsession does not neccessarily require an exorcism - obssession is external to the person's soul even though they experience things in their immediate sensory perception whether it is waking or sleeping - cases vary.

WORD of warning. One should never attempt to be obsessed nor possessed. Not ever.

To be delivered from both temptation and obsession, the following prayers are very effective and using both is perfectly fine.

    Here:

Concerning Diabolic obsession, Kanashibari 金縛り - demons, Taoist/Buddhist ghosts, any and all oppression from the evil one, there is a most effective Prayer, a Litany, that guards against such things and will relieve someone if they suffer from such things if they pray it as often as needed. It is the Litany of the Precious Blood.

    Litany of the Precious Blood

    Lord, have mercy on us.
    Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us.
    Christ, graciously hear us.
    God the Father of Heaven,
    Have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
    Have mercy on us
    God the Holy Spirit,
    Have mercy on us
    Holy Trinity, One God,
    Have mercy on us.

With and by the prayer and company of all Your elect angels and saints, for and with us, unceasingly

Blood of Christ, only-begotten Son of the Eternal
    Father,
    save us.
Blood of Christ, Incarnate Word of God, save us.
Blood of Christ, of the New and Eternal Testament,
    etc. .
Blood of Christ, falling upon the earth in the Agony,
Blood of Christ, shed profusely in the Scourging,
Blood of Christ, flowing forth in the Crowning with Thorns,
Blood of Christ, poured out on the Cross,
Blood of Christ, Price of our salvation,
Blood of Christ, without which there is no forgiveness,
Blood of Christ, Eucharistic drink and refreshment of our spirits, souls and bodies,
Blood of Christ, river of mercy,
Blood of Christ, Victor over all evil spirits,

Blood of Christ, Strength of confessors,
Blood of Christ, bringing forth virgins,
Blood of Christ, Help of those in peril,
Blood of Christ, Relief of the burdened,
Blood of Christ, Solace in sorrow,
Blood of Christ, Hope of the repentant,
Blood of Christ, Consolation of those who mourn,
Blood of Christ, Peace and Tenderness of hearts,
Blood of Christ, Pledge of Eternal Life
Blood of Christ, our defense against all who desire us ill from afar or near alone or in a crowd,
Blood of Christ, most worthy of all glory and honor,

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
    Spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world
    Graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world
    Have mercy on us.

    V. Thou hast redeemed us, O Lord, in Thy Blood, R. And made of us a kingdom for our God.

    Let Us Pray

Almighty and Eternal God, Thou hast appointed Thine only begotten Son Jesus Christ Our Only Lord and Redeemer of the world, and willed to be appeased by His Blood. Grant, we beseech Thee, that we may worthily adore this Price of our salvation, and through His power be safeguarded from the evils of this present life, so that we may rejoice in His fruits forever in Your Heavenly kingdom, through the same Christ Jesus Our Only Lord and Saviour Who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity and power of Thy Holy Spirit our Paraclete unto the endless ages of ages to come.

    Amen.
    .........................

    And here:

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

+ In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Most glorious Prince of the Celestial Host, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the conflict which we have to sustain against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places (Eph. 6.12). Come to the rescue of men whom God has created to His image and likeness, and whom He has redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. It is thou whom Holy Church venerates as her guardian and protector; thou whom the Lord has charged to conduct redeemed souls into Heaven. Pray, therefore, the God of Peace to subdue Satan beneath our feet, that he may no longer retain men captive nor do injury to the Church. Present our prayers to the most High, that without delay they may draw His mercy down upon us. Seize the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit, that he may no more seduce the nations (Apoc. 20.2-3).

    Exorcism

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel and Blessed Gabriel the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints, especially St. Enoch and St. Elijah in the flesh Thy holy prophets yet to return, we confidently undertake to repulse the attacks and deceits of the devil.

    +

    Psalm 67

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered: and let them that hate Him flee from before His face.

As smoke vanishes, so let them vanish away: as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

    V. Behold the Cross of the Lord! Flee, bands of enemies.
    R. The Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root and the Offspring of David has conquered.
    V. May Thy mercy descend upon us.
    R. As great as our hope in Thee.

+ We drive you from us, whoever you may be, unclean spirits, Satanic powers, infernal invaders, wicked legions, assemblies, and sects. In the name and by the virtue of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

+ May you be snatched away and driven from the Church of God and from the souls redeemed by the Precious Blood of the Divine Lamb.

+ Cease by your audacity, cunning serpent, to deceive the human race, to persecute the Church, to torment God's elect, and to sift them as wheat.

+ This is the command made to you by the Most High God,

+ with Whom in your haughty insolence you still pretend to be equal.

+ The God Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth (I Tim. 2.4). God the Father commands you.

+ God the Son commands you.

+ God the Holy Spirit commands you.

+ Christ, the Eternal Word of God made Flesh, commands you.

+ He Who to save our race, outdone through your malice, humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death (Phil. 2.8). He Who has built His Church on the firm rock and declared that the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her, because He dwells with Her all days, even to the consummation of the world (Matt. 28.20). The hidden virtue of the Cross commands it of you, as does the power of the mysteries of the Christian Faith.

+ The glorious Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, commands you.

+ She who by Her humility and from the first moment of Her Immaculate Conception crushed your proud head. The faith of the holy Apostles Peter and Paul and of the other Apostles commands you.

+ The blood of the Martyrs and the pious intercession of all the Saints command you.

+ St. Enoch and St. Elijah in the flesh, The holy prophets yet to return of the Holy God, command you.

+ Thus, cursed dragon, and you, wicked legions, we bind you by the living God,

    + by the true God,

    + by the Holy God,

+ by the God Who so loved the world, as to give up His only-begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him may not perish but may have life everlasting (St. John 3.16). Cease deceiving human creatures and pouring out to them the poison of eternal perdition. Cease harming the Church and hindering her liberty. Begone, Satan, inventor and master of all deceit, enemy of man's salvation. Give the place to Christ in Whom you have found none of your works. Give the place to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church acquired by Christ at the price of His Blood. Stoop beneath the all-powerful Hand of God. Tremble and flee at the evocation of the Holy and terrible name of Jesus; this Name which causes hell to tremble; this Name to which the Virtues, Powers and Dominations of Heaven are humbly submissive; this Name which the Cherubim and Seraphim praise unceasingly, repeating: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord, the God of Hosts.

    V. O Lord hear my prayer.
    R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
    V. O Lord be with us.
    R. And with our spirit.

    Let us pray.

God of Heaven, God of earth, God of Angels, God of Archangels, God of Patriarchs, God of Prophets, God of Apostles, God of Martyrs, God of Confessors, God of Virgins, God who has power to give life after death and rest after work, because there is no other God than Thee and there can be no other, for Thou art the Creator of all things, visible and invisible, of Whose reign there shall be no end. We humbly prostrate ourselves before Thy glorious Majesty and we supplicate Thee to deliver us from all the tyranny of the infernal spirits, from their snares, their lies, and their furious wickedness. Deign, O Lord, to protect us by Thy power and to preserve us safe and sound. We beseech Thee through Jesus Christ Our Lord, Thy beloved and Only-begotten Son Incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the Unity and Power and bond of Love of the Holy Spirit our Paraclete, unceasingly and now and always and unto the endless ages of ages to come. Amen.

    V. From the snares of the devil,
    R. Deliver us, O Lord.

    V. That Thy Church may serve Thee in peace and liberty,
    R. We beseech Thee hear us.

    V. That Thou would crush down all enemies of Thy holy Church,
    R. We beseech Thee hear us.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Divine Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

  • Holy water is very powerful when combating demons too. You can also say small exorcist prayers every time you feel the presence of a devil. "In the name of Jesus I bind you spirit of -you say whatever it is that is afflicting you" and send you to the foot of the Cross to be judged by the Lord".

Here is a good video about the use of Sacramentals (the armor of God) when dealing with this kind of situation:

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

Forget the psychobabble for now.  First, get your spiritual house in order by becoming Catholic.  Consult a traditional priest and do as he says. Give yourself to Our Lady.  Take the initiative to help yourself, and see if Our Lady doesn't help you!   You will find the psychological and psychiatric issues self-resolve.  Realise you are breaking the First Commandment by willingly exposing yourself to Protestantism. Pray every morning and night.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • Didn't Fr. Malachi Martin say we should never try to self-exorcize, or directly address a devil or demon?  Doesn't saying things like 'We drive you from us ... ' amount to addressing them?  This is new to me, so maybe I'm wrong.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?
