Title: Allow me to wave this red cape in front of you...
Post by: icterus on October 20, 2013, 08:34:50 PM
I came across a blog from a NO priest today, and I laughed at loud at the silliness of the thing.  In case you haven't seen anything worth facepalming over from the NO Church today, allow me to present to you Father's blog post called "Suck it":

Suck It (http://www.blessedisthekingdom.com/2013/10/15/suck-it/)

Thankfully, a commentor named 'Bob' voiced my opinion so I didn't have to.  This priest is the same type of cleric who introduced me to the Church, and set me back years.  I'll bet he's a really good listener...

Why didn't he include in the story that the kid is making reparations? Tell the whole story and make the point so you don't have to go through the comments and keep putting digital salve on it. And if someone drove down the road and yelled suck it at me, I'd probably find him and explain to him his bad example to others. He's a grown man, he ought to know that yelling rude things at people isn't christlike. I don't see anything worth praising here, except his not going berserk on the neighbor's kid.

So, just off the cuff, which is the more grave sin?  A kid vandalizing a car with paint (I had that happen to my car, an hour with some polishing compound and it's good as new)...

or an adult man driving around town yelling 'Suck it!' out his windows?

This reminds me SO much of my first Catholic pastor, it was only after a few years of his 'care' that I discovered that he was actually supposed to *absolve* me in confession.

That reminds me of an injustice that happened some thirty two years ago. A girl where I worked, her car was spraypainted with all kinds of obsenities. The police would not allow her to drive her car anywhere. She lost her job. The people who did that to her probably thought what they did was some big joke. But she spent nights in bed hungry because of what they did.
