  • Keep in mind, we're talking about Texas.

In other words, this weather is extreme. You have to go back more than 50 years, and even then it was 4 degrees warmer! We didn't just break a record, we shattered it.

This is about 5 hours north of where I live.

Record low maximum temperature set at Waco...
... Record daily maximum snowfall set at Waco...

The high temperature yesterday at Waco Regional Airport was 34
    degrees
which occurred at 1248 am CST. (The daytime high temperature
was 31 degrees.) This breaks the record low maximum for February 27
    of 38 degrees in 1962.
A trace of snow occurred at Waco yesterday
which ties the old record snowfall for February 27th set in 1945.

  • Matthew,

The NASA GISS datasets are available here:

    http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/

    The NSIDC watches the ice:

I don't know why traditional Catholics are so opposed to the notion of "global warming", which is the product of usurious capitalism, the foundation of which lies in the deistic, atheistic Enlightenment.

  • The climate alarmist have an answer for everything.

    Quote
Manmade warming in past decade has likely been offset by cooling from natural cycles in the Pacific and Atlantic - but effect will reverse in coming decades

    Quote
The finding could help explain the slowdown in temperature rises this century that climate sceptics have seized on as evidence climate change has stopped, even though 14 of the 15 hottest years on record have happened since 2000.

Weather records begin in 1914.  There is no reliable data before then.

I like how the author writes  "climate skeptic seized on evidence" as if global warming supporters didn't "seize" on those hot years.  It's different for them though.

    Quote
The authors of the new paper describe the slowdown, sometimes called a global warming hiatus or pause, as a “false pause”. They warn that the natural cycles in the Pacific and Atlantic that they found are currently having an overall cooling effect on temperatures will reverse in the coming decades – at which point warming will accelerate again.

It amazes me that we can predict weather decades from now but we can barely   predict weather for the coming week.  Did the supporters of global warming even predict this  false pause? lol

Obviously your transnational corporations are the biggest destructors of the environment however to what end will this global warming alarm go to? Will we gut more of our much-needed factorioes to curb "air pollution"? Will the government reserve the right to confiscate private property in the name of the environment?

Nevermind the fact that this phenomenon is a natural Earth-cycle that continues every thousands of years, which has been proven again and again to the chargin of the global warming alarmists.

  • Ah, stop your complaining, Matthew.  We haven't seen 34 here in Northern Ohio since last September.  OK, a slight hyperbole, but it's been at least a month.

Clearly the seasons are in the process of being altered (Our Lady of LaSalette).

Winter didn't really start until mid-January here in Ohio, not Winter in the true sense.  In my youth, it had always been in full force by early December.  It's as if the seasons have shifted to the right by about a month.  And, due to the angle of the sun required for plant growth, it's going to seriously start messing with food growing seasons very soon.

  • There are actually real reasons for why we're getting these artic blasts due to "warming".  Arctic Sea ice coverage is down to record lows, to the point that it's almost down to 0% in the summer.  All that causes serious perturbations in the northern jet stream; and that's what has been causing the polar air to dip down further south in these cycles that they've called "polar vortex".  That doesn't mean Gore et al. aren't exploiting this for political gains, but these cycles seem more related to solar cycles than man-made factors; there's significant warming on Mars right now, for instance.

  • Yes, I doubt it's due to man.

(And yes, Laramie, I don't have to defend the protestant capitalists or the modern world. I'm against both, and far too much of what goes on in the world today is not natural. Even if global warming were true, it would only condemn the modern world and the anti-Catholic, modern way of life. But look it up -- family size used to be much larger. But just like with Evolution, sometimes true science just doesn't back it up, so we don't need to find ways to reconcile it with Catholicism.)

All I know is that this weather is borderline apocalyptic.

  • Eh, it's been fairly fine for me. It's been quite cold, but up until New Year's, it was quite warm. I've experienced very cold (last year's) and very mild winters here in Minnesota.

The only weird thing is the lack of snow. Everywhere else is getting a sizable amount - even places like Nashville and some parts of Texas are getting slammed with snow. Outside of mid-November, I've seen *maybe* 2 feet total.

Huh?  Did we have a previous conversation that I can't remember?

I mean, I know I've addressed man-made climate change in the past.  But I can't remember if we've shared words.

The arctic sea ice is increasing at record levels. Get your head out of the libtard sites and start looking around you. February was the coldest on record by a whole 3 degrees here in Maine! The last 3 winters have been some of the snowiest on record since records were kept in the 1800s. Meanwhile the summers have been some of the coolest we've had in a long time. Last summer we never even hit 90 degrees which has never happened!

Global warming is another false religion. Don't buy into the hysteria.

Traditional Catholics should be "opposed to the notion of [man-made] global warming" because the idea is actual ludicrous.

In the 1970s, all the science shows on television were telling us that the earth was on the verge of a new ice age because of the tremendous levels of carbon in the atmosphere.  We were given hysterical warnings about how glaciers were going to cover North America and the very existence of humanity was at stake.  What to do???

The answer was that we needed to tax fossil fuels at a much higher rate in order to curb their use.  We needed to stop using the earth's precious resources for trivial matters.  Doing away with private property was, in fact, an often recommended action.  In short, to save humanity, capitalism had to go and the world needed to become Marxist.

Then we started having warmer temperatures.  Now, everything we were told in the 1970s that caused global cooling now causes global warming.  And everything that was the solution then is the solution now, except that they don't overtly demand communism.

The bottom line is that the earth goes through cycles.  Regular people call it "weather".  Only the Godless elites call it "global warming", "climate change", or whatever else the term of the day happens to be.  The only purpose of the hyperbole that is the environmental crowd is that the government needs to control every aspect of our lives.

    Green is the new Red.

  • Well there is some truth in that capitalism does need to go, since your big corporate giants really do destroy and pollute the environment, not to mention what those companies do to workers.

  • Additionally, I should add that the smog and air pollution seem to be worse (in the 2010s) in the communist countries who have no intention of abiding by any kind of limits on their industrial power (didn't anyone see any of the Olympics in China?).  I agree that capitalism isn't the ideal economic system in regards to our moral health, but any problem of "global warming" or pollution in general that we see today isn't due to capitalism.

  • One volcanic eruption does more damage to the environment than hundreds of years of pollution from factories. If all you people hate capitalism and businesses so much then get off your computers, tablets, iPhones or whatever you are using to access the internet. In fact you better go out in the woods and live in a cabin and cut wood for heat and shoot bear and deer for your food and don't use any electricity either because if you are enjoying any of the comforts of modern day life you can thank capitalism and big corporations.

  • Al's oldest daughter, Karenna, married and then divorced an Andrew Schiff. Andrew is the great grandson of Jacob Schiff who did a lot of financing for the wars of the twentieth century. Jacob Schiff was the darling of his guardians, the Rothschilds. I'll leave you to do the math.
